I'm sorry but I didn't take a picture; however, you will know what it looked like if you imagine the form of Officinalis, Rosa Mundi, or Violacea in bright red with the velvet texture of red roses and golden stamens. There is a slight crimson shading along the curves of petals reminiscent of what you might see in Cramoisie. They are in different sections so comparisons were difficult; however, Officinalis and Violacea were nearby blooming at the same time and the similarities in form and differences in color were obvious and striking.

This rose is something I have never seen before. It seems somewhat brighter to me than Conditorum or the Conditorum seedling which as far as I can tell is a self-pollinated copy of the parent, but on any given day there will be some variation in the colors of these roses.

The crimson tones in Sanguinea begin to increase on the second day as it ages. Same is true for Conditorum which is not a strong rose and did not bloom this year. Its seedling is stronger.

I would encourage lovers of Gallicas to grow them from seed. Some reproduce their own kind, but a cross can surprise with a new rose.
