Combining Receiving Area and Formal Dining into Cozy Living room

Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the process of giving our house a makeover, and I'm looking for some advice on creating a cozy living room. I've decided to merge our receiving area and formal dining space into one large living area to make it more functional. I plan to keep the couch but am open to replacing the coffee table, and other stuff.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas on how to make this space feel warm and inviting. Whether it's tips on furniture arrangement, or decor accents, I'm all ears!

We could use a picture of the room with your back to the stairs, and of the opening to the left of the front door. Also a rough sketch of the room with measurements that include placement of the windows, doors, and their measurements, as well as the measurements of the openings. Nothing special just a hand sketch with the measurements written in. That way we can help you answer your questions. Also, what is the main purpose for this room? Is it a sitting room, will it have a TV etc.? How many people use the room daily and how many guests do you want to accommodate?

Good to know. We still need a picture of the room with your back to the couch. Also, some measurements please. Because we cannot be there to measure the room ourselves, we need your help to do that in order to make appropriate suggestions. A rough hand drawn sketch works well. Thanks in advance.
