IMO the gold look will be gone soon taken over by the next fad. Do stainless simple all pulls . I like the pulls to be in proprtion to the cabinets and often installed some vertical some horizontal I get my pulls from Lee Valley the come in a ton of sises and this is the look I mean

Just my personal opinion (I’m no decorator), but I would by no circumstances choose a black faucet. And I would only consider black hardware if there are other black elements in the space. Otherwise I’d say stick with nickel tones. Polished nickel is classic and versatile.

I still have brass throughout the house for door handles. Thought kitchen hardware would match :=). But I agree the color is probably a trend out (again) and I am concerned about mix.

Regarding door hardware: I also like the tab pulls. Or possibly simple knobs.

How practical are tab pulls on drawers? i.e. during cooking? I find liking my current handle that I can operate cleanly even with some dirty fingers. I will be able to post a rendering later regarding the color. We went in circles with center cabinets and wanted to do wood at some point. But I felt the wood would always compete with light (Bona) wood floor.

Have you looked at pewter hardware? It's darker than nickel (which I find too light) but much lighter than black or oil rubbed bronze. I'd link what I have in my kitchen but it is no longer available. Some have a rustic look to them but mine do not. This is fancier than mine but shows the color.

As for the faucet go with SS. I did polished nickel and couldn't wait to replace it. I finally did 5 years later.
