Like moving from a small community to a great city... The stimulation is heightenened, the options are many, and the feedback is constant.
With the social media platform It can be wonderful to realize ever expanding possibilities, and easier to loose track of our personal goals in the process.
It is important to design as an extention of ourselves. Social media can become a negative if that is forgotten, and an asset if kept in check. The finest designs I've seen where not the most expensive or intricate, rather, simple and honest... as original as the inhabitants themselves!

From reading posts on Houzz, it's obvious that people are increasingly concerned what others think of them, including the most intimate areas of their homes such as the bedroom and bathroom. I'm not saying you shouldn't try to have a nice home, but I shudder when I read posts asking if it's okay to do such and such from a design standpoint in their bedroom and bathroom. Unless you entertain a great deal, how many people see your bathroom on a weekly basis?

Social media hasn't influenced my design ideas. I've known for years what I liked, and what I think looks right together, and that's what I strive for. If it looks good, it stays, and if not, it goes. I decided today that one color in the bedroom that I thought was going to be okay with the knotty pine trim isn't, so as soon as my migraine lifts, I'll be repainting. I would rather do that, and have it look great than live with something I don't like for 20 years.
