Love the window in front of the cook top

What did you use for cook top ventilation to prevent cook top grime from getting on the windows and back splash? We want a similar situation but are being discouraged by our builder to do a window in front of the cook top. The cook top will be an induction cook top. The builder says if will be a issue with cleaning the window and back splash.
