all that uplighting! please consider our feathered friends that lose their way when confounded by artificial lighting beaming up into the skies. For migrating birds this confusion often leads to their deaths. maybe get your 'sexy' some other way

Gambino landscape lighting

The term "hot spots" is used incorrectly in this article. Glare is a better way to describe what they are referring to as "hot spots". Hot spots are better described as areas in the garden that are exceptionally bright and out of balance with the rest of the lighting scheme to the point where the light becomes obtrusive or stands out in a negative way. Hot spots occur when the light source is installed too closely to its subject or a lamp that is too bright is chosen. It can also occur from a lack of maintenance like plant materials that grow unchecked and become too close to the light source or the light source not being moved to accommodate new plant growth.
