Trellis
The climb to the top is easy for vines and plants with a trellis to help them along
A trellis is a vertical, or almost vertical, grid composed of wood or metal strips set in a frame. It provides support for climbing vines or other plants.
A trellis can be a simple frame with latticework panels.
Or it can be far more elaborate. This trellis combines lattice, fretwork and arches in a finished product that stands out even without plants covering it.
Placing a trellis against a wall gives climbing vines a structure to cling to, saving the wall from invasive roots that can weaken it.
When vines or other climbing plants are placed near a trellis, their spiraling tendrils automatically grab onto it. Freestanding trellises allow you to grow vertically even when a permanent structure isn't available.
This wooden lattice, set on a diagonal, is an angled version of a traditional trellis. It's a good choice for supporting many sprawling vegetables, such as cucumbers or cantaloupes.
