Luxury European Kitchen

Originally, this small kitchen with a peninsula counter and separate adjacent dining room was stifling, complete with dated and worn finishes. The new kitchen space with large island and eat-in dining area is the result of an extensive renovation that opened up three smaller spaces into one large area. The new large format windows add a bright and airy feel to the kitchen area while the rustic stone finishes compliment the delicately glazed cabinets that change in elevation for added visual effect. The dark wood finish on the island bar that features a secondary sink, pot storage and natural stone tiles along the supporting column creates a focal point for this sprawling kitchen. Layered lighting, strategic paint schemes and a variety of refined yet rustic finishes make this kitchen with built-in laptop desk, display cabinet and bar seating the perfect space to entertain guests or enjoy a meal with family.

It's tough to say for sure due to lighting and computer screens, but Benjamin Moore has similar colors, Butte Rock and New Chestnut. For the pendants I'd try Hudson Valley Lighting.

    Your husband is right.
The idea of having an island in a different color from the other cabinets is to give the impression of a separate piece of furniture added over time - using the same countertop material defeats that appearance.

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel ourselves. We are doing the perimeter cabinets in an off white with black glaze & honed black absolute granite counter; the 10 ft. island in a stained cherry with black glaze and an amazing granite called typhoon bordeax. I easily looked at over 1000 granite slabs before finding this one. The cabinet style will also be different, to have a more furniture look. There are lots of photos on this site showing cabinets different than the island. Good luck.

This looks like a custom glaze, but a similar paint color to try is Albescent OC-40 by Benjamin Moore.

Are these cabinets inset or full overlay? Thansks!

    • shead
The clarity and lighting in the photo makes the uppers hard to really tell, but I can say with a fair amount of certainty that the lowers are full overlay. It's easier to tell when you see a drawer stack. I'm pretty sure the uppers are overlay but they could be inset. I've been doing research about these two styles and some people suggest using inset on top and full overlay on the bottom to save on costs, which may be what they've done here. But, like you, I'd like to know the answer.

Where are the bar stools from?

Sorry for the late reply, just noticed this question now. The bar stools were purchased from Costco many years ago and were updated with new upholstery and retro-fitted with an extra foot rest along the base for added comfort.

Hi there. Thank you for your kind words. The granite slab is one entire piece with a notched out rectangle on the far left side. A long piece is fitted behind the column on the far left to form only one long seam that is mostly invisible because it travels along the edge of the column. The second piece of slab incorporated the cut-out for the bar sink.

What is the exact color of the burnt orange part of ceiling from which the pendants are suspended please?

Sorry, I don't have the information for the exact colour available at this time, but I can tell you it was part of the Benjamin Moore historical collection, is appears more burnt orange in the photo, but is actually a very rich sandy beige in real life.

Hi there! The cabinets are a custom tone of cream with a darker glaze along the mouldings.

Hi there. The flooring is a high quality ceramic tile that came in various formats. It was installed with the minimal spacing between each tile, and a creamy, light grout to match the tile colour.
