Crayon Architects
Crayon have undertaken a change of use and listed building application to revert a vacant care home with nine bed spaces into a single family dwelling. The house is in a crescent in the St Leonards conservation area, a vicinity renowned for its large stucco dwellings. Most properties are characterised by ground floor cast iron balconies, central niches and doorways with Tuscan half columns and entablatures.
The property was built between 1818 and 1828, during which time all 12 original houses on the crescent were completed. First listed in 1974, the building is of special architectural and historical interest, warranting every effort to preserve it.
Where alterations are planned, they seek to restore the building’s original character and make a more positive contribution to the wider context. Original features such as timber shutters and plaster cornicing will be restored, and any new joinery will be painted softwood to match the period.
This property is now for sale with Savills Exeter, so take a look here: https://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbetrsexs190231

Goetheanum | Dornach | Switzerland
An architectural series of an anthroposophic building in Dornach, Switzerland.
The Goetheanum is the world center for the anthroposophical movement.
The building was designed by Rudolf Steiner and named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It includes two performance halls (1500 seats), gallery and lecture spaces, a library, a bookstore, and administrative spaces for the Anthroposophical Society; neighboring buildings house the society's research and educational facilities. Conferences focusing on themes of general interest or directed toward teachers, farmers, doctors, therapists, and other professionals are held at the center throughout the year.
Both the present Goetheanum building and its precursor have been widely cited as masterpieces of modern architecture.
Steiner's architecture is characterized by a liberation from traditional architectural constraints, especially through the departure from the right-angle as a basis for the building plan. For the first Goetheanum he achieved this in wood by employing boat builders to construct its rounded forms; for the second Goetheanum by using concrete to achieve sculptural shapes on an architectural scale. The use of concrete to achieve organically expressive forms was an innovation for the times; in both buildings, Steiner sought to create forms that were spiritually expressive.

Officine Gullo
In Ukraine, in Kiev city centre, a luxurious private residence is home to the latest project by Officine Gullo: a blend of bygone charm and contemporary refinement. Style, brightness and high performance characterize
the kitchen in which polished brass finishes echo the precious warm shades of gold, which harmoniously
accent the opaque white and dark oak joinery.
The space consists of a striking 4.8-meter linear kitchen with a stainless steel structure powder coated in opaque Signal White and polished brass handles and decorations. A long, front, lustrous brass rail runs the entire length of the kitchen, whose upper section consists of a polished steel work surface with welded washbasin and an induction stove, while the lower section features several drawers, storage space,
a dishwasher, and an oven. Four painted metal pediments vaunting polished brass cornices run along the cooking section. The Florentine fleur-de-lis graces the central pediment. Equipped with built-in LED
lighting, an impressive pyramid extraction hood stands above the counter alongside two dark oak joinery elements. A multifunction oven, steam oven, microwave oven, and dish-warming drawer are situated next to the metal kitchen, nestled in two joinery columns. A carpentry wall with two built-in refrigerators and a display cabinet completes the kitchen. The cabinet is enhanced with decorations, internal lighting, and polished brass finishes. Like all Officine Gullo creations, the composition of every project can be fully personalized, including the dimensions and the cooking section configuration, and even engraving on the handles and the colors. Each detail is a product of research and artisanal expertise. The cooking appliances are perfectly in line with a top-range professional kitchen.

Everything Home
The new construction luxury home was designed by our Carmel design-build studio with the concept of 'hygge' in mind – crafting a soothing environment that exudes warmth, contentment, and coziness without being overly ornate or cluttered. Inspired by Scandinavian style, the design incorporates clean lines and minimal decoration, set against soaring ceilings and walls of windows. These features are all enhanced by warm finishes, tactile textures, statement light fixtures, and carefully selected art pieces.
In the living room, a bold statement wall was incorporated, making use of the 4-sided, 2-story fireplace chase, which was enveloped in large format marble tile. Each bedroom was crafted to reflect a unique character, featuring elegant wallpapers, decor, and luxurious furnishings. The primary bathroom was characterized by dark enveloping walls and floors, accentuated by teak, and included a walk-through dual shower, overhead rain showers, and a natural stone soaking tub.
An open-concept kitchen was fitted, boasting state-of-the-art features and statement-making lighting. Adding an extra touch of sophistication, a beautiful basement space was conceived, housing an exquisite home bar and a comfortable lounge area.

Scandinavian interior design is renowned for its simplicity, functionality, and minimalistic charm. Originating from the Nordic countries, this style embraces a clean and uncluttered aesthetic, often characterized by light, neutral colors such as white, soft gray, and beige. Natural materials like light-toned woods such as pine and oak, along with stone and leather, are prominently featured, lending warmth and texture to the space. Furniture follows a minimalist approach with sleek lines and practical designs, focusing on both form and function. Decorative elements are kept to a minimum, with curated accents such as ceramics, textiles, and artwork adding subtle touches of personality. Large windows allow natural light to flood the interiors, enhancing the sense of openness and airiness. Soft textiles such as wool throws and plush rugs contribute to the cozy atmosphere, while biophilic elements like indoor plants bring a touch of nature indoors. The result is a harmonious blend of simplicity, comfort, and understated elegance that defines Scandinavian interior design.
Clifton Leung Design Workshop - CLDW.com.hk
Clifton, the designer, chooses furniture in walnut brown to create a masculine and tasteful ambience for this project. Since the owner often goes traveling and has a collection of deco from all over the world, especially wall paintings. So, he wants a home design that is both practical and unique to reveal his personality and being design as a stylish hotel suite.
Clifton also adapts a sliding door and raised platform to separate the sleeping/ living area and cooking/ dining area. The design is flexible and practical since the owner wants maximum space in such a small area. So, he requires minimal design with the maximum space created.
Dark walnut color is selected as the theme color to portray a timeless metropolitan look. The flower arrangement with a dash of green and white, together with the artistic and colorful painting help to spice up the entire environment. The white wall also works well to break the monotony of the dark brown hues.
The wooden blinds by the entrance, in walnut brown, are unconventional, to conform to the overall look and feel of the design. The oriental wooden chairs by the entrance infuses well with the overall metropolitan design of the flat. This is a perfect blend of “east meets west”.

In line with the minimalistic design, built-in washing machine works magic to create an uncluttered kitchen space. The kitchen drawers are created with meticulous details, where cutleries can be conveniently categorized.
A sliding door is in place to separate the bedroom/living room and the dining area. The door can be fully opened to create a combined space for friends’ gathering if needed. Different floor treatments are used to define the living and dining areas. Drawers under the bed offer extra storage and maximize the utilization of space.
The color tone and material of the furniture in the living area matches with that of the dining room – in hues of black and dark brown. The beige carpet and light chestnut flooring blend well with the furniture to offset the monochromic tonality and create a calm and restful feel. The mood lighting at the ceiling further enhances the homey ambience.
A grey washroom evokes a sophisticated, calming, and uplifting feeling, which offers a private oasis for owners to relax after a day of hectic work.
