Ray Munn Kitchens
We had the privilege of transforming the kitchen space of a beautiful Grade 2 listed farmhouse located in the serene village of Great Bealings, Suffolk. The property, set within 2 acres of picturesque landscape, presented a unique canvas for our design team. Our objective was to harmonise the traditional charm of the farmhouse with contemporary design elements, achieving a timeless and modern look.
For this project, we selected the Davonport Shoreditch range. The kitchen cabinetry, adorned with cock-beading, was painted in 'Plaster Pink' by Farrow & Ball, providing a soft, warm hue that enhances the room's welcoming atmosphere.
The countertops were Cloudy Gris by Cosistone, which complements the cabinetry's gentle tones while offering durability and a luxurious finish.
The kitchen was equipped with state-of-the-art appliances to meet the modern homeowner's needs, including:
- 2 Siemens under-counter ovens for efficient cooking.
- A Capel 90cm full flex hob with a downdraught extractor, blending seamlessly into the design.
- Shaws Ribblesdale sink, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal.
- Liebherr Integrated tall fridge, ensuring ample storage with a sleek design.
- Capel full-height wine cabinet, a must-have for wine enthusiasts.
- An additional Liebherr under-counter fridge for extra convenience.
Beyond the main kitchen, we designed and installed a fully functional pantry, addressing storage needs and organising the space.
Our clients sought to create a space that respects the property's historical essence while infusing modern elements that reflect their style. The result is a pared-down traditional look with a contemporary twist, achieving a balanced and inviting kitchen space that serves as the heart of the home.
This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering bespoke kitchen solutions that meet our clients' aspirations. Feel inspired? Get in touch to get started.

City Wood Floors
City Wood FloorsA 1944 Rolls Royce engine has finally returned home and been re-conditioned by City Wood
Floors after an amazing journey.
The engine, spotted by Wayne Gumbrell, whilst on a business trip in Belgium in the corner of a huge warehouse, in Gent. It was originally brought at an auction, in Belgium and the owner wanted to turn it into a table (like Top Gear) but it was far too big for their house.
A very patriotic Mr Gumbrell argued victoriously that this was a piece of British History and it would have a better home in England, its rightful place, where it belongs.
After weeks of negotiations and haggling over a price, the engine was collected from Gent. Weighing over 1 ton it was carefully re-patriated to be restored back in Hove.
Different variations of this engine were used in the famous Spitfire. Also this was widely used for tanks such as the Centurion, Challenger and the Conqueror.
As we all know the spitfire played a major part in achieving ultimate victory in World War 2 and truly deserves its place as probably the most successful fighter design ever and certainly as the famous and charismatic of all time.
This wonderful engine can be seen in or showroom in Hove. With local interest amongst engine enthusiasts, it was suggested that it might actually fire up and work.

One SEED Architecture + Interiors
The 'Updo' Renovation + Addition by One SEED (www.oneseed.ca)
The clients, an enthusiastic young family, have a love of dramatic colours and entertaining. As such the design for the interior has a much more contemporary and exuberant quality than the classical exterior. Features include a playful washroom to be shared by the children with a large soaker tub and funky shower. The master ensuite boasts sleek custom millwork and a huge no-threshold shower. On the main floor an underused living room was opened up with the removal a dividing wall and the addition of wall-to-wall windows. It is now undeniably the anchor of the open concept main floor with its bright red paint and dramatic linear gas fireplace feature wall. A new open riser staircase made from reclaimed timber is paired with an Alto-esque wood screen, each maintaining the open feel of the main floor.
Sustainability was a priority, as is evidenced by the use of soy-based spray foam insulation, new high-performance windows, low-maintenance recycled content siding, and feature millwork and stairs made from salvaged and recycled lumber. East facing operable skylights were strategically located in the new roof to provide daylight to the upper storey as well as the main floor. In addition, the stack effect created by the operable skylights above the staircase is designed to ventilate and cool the kitchen and bedrooms in the summer.

Amanda Martocchio Architecture
Time had stood still at this 1970s ranch in Armonk when the owners invited us to collaborate with them to transform it into a modern, light-filled home for their young family. The budget was lean, so economy was a primary consideration for every design decision. The challenge was to identify the modest home’s virtues – vaulted ceilings and a lovely backyard – and accentuate them by strategically optimizing available funds.
We were tasked with rectifying a dysfunctional interior stair, connecting to the outdoors with new large windows, and updating the exterior. We focused our attention on a finite set of architectural moves which would have the biggest impact and improve our clients’ daily experience of the home. Detailing was kept simple, using common grade materials and standard components. All exterior walls were revamped with new windows and siding. Although these materials were not particularly costly, thoughtful layout of boards, battens, and openings produced a cohesive, rigorous composition at each facade.
Since the budget would not cover the homeowners’ complete wish list, some items were bracketed for subsequent phases. The challenge was to establish a framework that would allow future work – including a new roof and kitchen renovation – to proceed smoothly.
The homeowners, both scientists, were enthusiastic collaborators, contributing their outstanding design sensibilities to selection of fixtures and finishes. Construction ended just in time for the arrival of their baby – and with that, the transformation of their family home was complete.
Pfeiffer Design
Although Pfeiffer Design specialise in high-end new-build interior architecture and whole home refurbishments, we are always happy to take on smaller projects, especially in terms of what’s referred to in the industry as FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment). Our lovely client approached us just as he was completing on his new seafront apartment, with the idea of furnishing and accessorising it from top to bottom. He was moving into a modern two-bedroom apartment from a large country home, and, realising that none of his existing furniture would fit in terms of style or scale, decided to leave it all behind, providing us with a totally blank canvas to work with.
When we begin working on a project, one of our first tasks is to get an idea of the client’s ideal aesthetic and style, often in the form of inspiration images they have saved and/or Pinterest boards. This particular client presented us with a completely monochromatic palette – totally minimal, Scandinavian-inspired and with very little scope for soft furnishings and personal touches.
The brief was to design a home that felt practical and functional, minimal and uncluttered without too many personal touches, allowing for a space that could be utilised as a holiday let/AirBnB should the client decide to travel for an extended period of time. Being a single man in the early years of retirement, he plans to travel extensively over the next few years and is incredibly busy with various outdoor hobbies and social activities, meaning he plans not to spend too much time at home – although it needed to be suitable for the odd dinner party and, in particular, for his daughter and grandson to visit frequently.
In our concept, we explored our client’s original ideas of achieving a minimal, fuss-free home, whilst adding in some feminine touches in the form of curtains and cushions, along with accessories such as plants, vases and candles. Our designs centred around high quality, yet affordable, pieces along with the addition of some key designer items, and quintessential Nordic brands to really elevate the scheme. The grey, blue and red colour palette added some life, whilst making sure that the apartment retained its masculine edge, without relying purely on monochrome. Soon after starting the design process, our client’s exceptional taste became apartment – allowing us the opportunity to really design without limits. Leaving the design up to us in the main, allowed us to achieve this modern, minimal sleek apartment – perfectly fit for purpose whilst also delivering that wow-factor.
The bones of this modern apartment were great – two great sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and a modern open-plan kitchen/living area along with a large balcony and tonnes of natural light and brightness, however it was desperately in need of softening and personalisation. We came up with a design incorporating a high-level breakfast bar, complete with Gubi bar stools, to break up the space between kitchen and living area. The second bedroom became a study with a luxurious super-king sized velvet sofa bed for the occasional guest, whilst the master suite became the ideal modern minimal bedroom – accessorised with midcentury inspired bedside tables, sleek Scandi lighting and completed by bespoke blackout-lined linen curtains for the best ever night’s sleep.
Being able to approach a project head on without consideration of existing furniture, artwork or accessories is nothing short of a dream for our designers. Designing from the ground up allows us the opportunity to completely see our vision come to life without compromise.
We designed and specified every aspect of this exciting project, including:
Overseeing the decoration and choosing paint colours
Installation of new carpet throughout the bedrooms
Design and manufacture of bespoke furniture pieces including sofa, armchair, bed, ottoman and footstool
Design and manufacture of bespoke curtains
Design and manufacture of bespoke soft furnishings (cushions)
Specification and procurement of off-the-peg furniture items and accessories
Specification of artwork
Specification of decorative lighting
Specification and procurement of crockery, cutlery, placemats, vases, toaster, kettle, hangers etc.
Advice regarding TV/AV specification as well as small power electrics

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAYS:
“Lesley is lovely, Amanda is lovely, and so to is Henny. Susie has her moments too.
They are also very professional, knowledgeable, creative, caring and enthusiastic …. they all talk to each other!
I was in business thirty years, and a managing director for fifteen of these. I could have counted the companies I feel gave exceptionally service during that time on one hand. I genuinely feel Pfeiffer Design would have topped this list, they are so really hard to fault.
Before finding Pfeiffer Design, I visited two well known stores and their design consultants and came away thinking their designs would be a quickly assembled selection of furniture available in their stores.
Pfeiffer Design on the other hand, arranged and managed everything, arranging the repainting of the entire apartment (it was originally a ghastly white), the re-carpeting of two rooms, the selection and procurement of beautiful curtains, rugs, furniture and lighting, they even suggested items to accessorise and convinced me of the need for a few scatter cushions and candles. It all works perfectly together.
If you want a proper job done speak to them, they have a pond and everything.”

Puccini Kitchens
This kitchen project is the perfect example of Traditional style with a modern touch. The homeowners desired a kitchen that catered to their cooking passions and served as a central hub for family activities.
The choice of beaded shaker cupboards in Navy and Light Grey Slate provides a striking contrast that elevates the aesthetics of the space. The integration of Dekton Kairos worktops not only adds a touch of elegance but also ensures durability for everyday use.
The large central island, with an inbuilt hob, is the heart of this kitchen. It’s not just a cooking area; it’s a gathering spot for family and friends, perfect for socialising while preparing meals.
One of the standout features is the large double larder with a pull-out workspace, ingeniously designed to house essentials like a toaster and coffee machine. This clever use of space keeps the countertops clutter-free and enhances the kitchen's overall functionality.
The built-in wooden wine rack, with a capacity to store 16 bottles, adds an element of luxury to the space, making it ideal for wine enthusiasts and perfect for entertaining.
This kitchen transformation in Forest Hill is a testament to how thoughtful design can blend beauty and utility. The Navy and Light Grey Slate colour scheme, paired with functional features like the central island and bespoke storage solutions, creates an inviting and efficient space.
If you’re inspired by the Navy and Light Grey Slate Kitchen in Forest Hill and want to explore how we can transform your kitchen into a perfect blend of style and functionality, get in touch.

The XXTwo Plan merges ultimate functionality with a clean Scandinavian-inspired modern farmhouse minimalism. From the curb, the design presents with an impressive stature marked by a tall 2-story gable massing, flanked by a flat-roofed wing and entryway sheltered by a quaint second-story deck above. This rendition is skinned with a dark concrete brick, accented by a richly-stained tongue and groove cedar wood facade.
Designed specifically for NE16, my OKC Urban Renewal-awarded redevelopment project in inner Oklahoma City, this plan is compatible with narrow lots while still packing in nearly 1900 square feet of pure, functional living space. It includes a standard 1-car garage with modern, satin-glass window garage door, but when building from scratch, can also be re-configured as a pull-through breezeway into a backyard parking scenario, where a detached garage is also possible.
Guests are greeted with an impressive two-story vaulted, naturally-lit staircase immediately adjacent to the front door. The great room, complete with a touch of industrial-modern with its exposed HVAC ductwork, is vast with a roomy kitchen on one end and living room at the other. Just beyond the living room is a 3-panel door system to the back patio and yard.
Kitchen-wise, modern enthusiasts who love to cook will enjoy the large kitchen wall that includes an impressive range and vent hood with a horizontal slider window built right into the backsplash over the cooktop. The island also includes one of my signature built-in tables that comfortably seats six, and is one less piece of furniture to buy. A powder bathroom also resides downstairs, saving you that quick climb up the stairs just for a quick bathroom stop.
When it's time to retire for the evening, the upstairs offers several living options. Just atop the staircase is a double-door system that provides not only natural light, but access to the quaint rooftop deck overlooking the front yard. The hall leads to a full bathroom, linen closet, and spacious back bedroom with walk-in closet. Down the other end of the hall leads to the master suite, utility room, and 3rd bedroom, also with its own master closet.
The master suite, the largest of the three bedrooms, has its own full bathroom with dual sinks, shower, toilet room, and large walk-in closet with that direct, secondary connectivity to the utility room that many of my designs are known for.
If a truly-modern curb appeal that doesn't skimp on functional space is what you're after, give the XXTwo a good look. | jC
