With this Cayuga Lake home you are sure to have something to do all day long, all year-round...don't take my word for it -- come check it out Down the long, stone private drive, nestled on a breathtaking hillside, awaits a custom built home -- a vision where love and quality craftsmanship go hand-in-hand Outstanding Cayuga Lake views can be enjoyed throughout most of the home, patios, and deck. The lush perennials frame around the home as if it was an illustration in a classic storybook. This home has a touch of elegance, yet the comforts of home. The new hardwood floors are stunning -- extending throughout most of the main level. A set of French doors welcome you to your place setting in the spacious formal dining room -- a "fine dining" ambiance is instantly created and includes a view into the flourishing garden through the wall of windows. The family room is impeccable with floor to ceiling windows, and French doors that open to the front patio/outdoor screened-in room. A panoramic lake view that extends inside to out. The cozy fireplace will fill the room with warmth, and create a peaceful environment. The eat-in kitchen is a chef’s dream come true with a Viking sub-zero refrigerator, six-burner gas range, Brookhaven cabinets, complimented with granite countertops, a center island with seating for two, and over the counter lake views. For ease of entertaining, there is a dining area centrally located between the kitchen and living room -- and includes an easy access point to the side patio. The dining area has a tray ceiling that illuminates above -- a decadent addition. The living room continues the theme of the wall of windows AND an additional wood burning fireplace. The hallway is a work of art -- quite literally -- the design was inspired by the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The upper level includes 3 large bedrooms with large closets, a home office, hallway full bathroom (with a separate shower room) and a laundry chute. The master suite is magnificent -- definitely, a room that you wouldn't mind waking up in every morning! The dramatic cathedral ceiling is enhanced by the wall of windows and lake views. Completing this master suite you get a private balcony, TWO walk-in closets (that are the size of small rooms), and an en-suite that includes his & hers granite topped vanities and a tile steam shower with built-in bench. Down to the newly repainted, generously sized finished walkout lower level, you have a media room, bedroom, full bathroom, and large storage/utility room. The French doors open to the back deck where you can find the hot tub, and sturdy steps that lead to the deep water dock and Cayuga Lake! Outbuilding can conveniently hold your outdoor tools and toys. The 9.87 acres allows you room to build a garage This home will leave a lasting impression on you and your guests!

DJK Interior Design created the interior architectural elements and luxury interiors in the Great Room of this 11,000 square foot French Country estate. Creating the architectural details of this room; inspiration was drawn from classic French details. From the elegance of the graceful lines of the fireplace with hand-carved fireplace mantle, hand-hewed beams and faux plaster finished walls, to the fossil-stone and iron coffee table, 17th century chest, custom antiqued leather wing-backed chairs and mohair sofa, each detail of the space was meticulously appointed to reflect the warmth and livable luxury the client desired.

Philharmonic Design House - 2008 - Ladera Ranch, CA
The late Stephen L. Stein created this room for the Philharmonic House of Design in Orange County, CA. This home is an exquisite Spanish-style custom estate.
Steve gave me a discontinued leather wallcovering and asked if I could duplicate it. It took 600 hours to hand craft, install & perform final finishes to colorize. It was magnificent. I suggested the trim of clovos around the opening as an added detail to tie it all together. We also designed and performed the rugged wood finishes on Steve's custom designed built-in. The overall feel accompanied the archetectural style of the home coupled with Steve Stein's perfection of chosen fabrics, art, furnishings & antiquities. We performed a soft faux on the ceilings as well in order to bring in the grounded feel of candlelight to the space.
I wish to honor your memory, Steve, for tirelessly absorbing into the fun of so many Philharmonic Design Houses. I always admired your trust and genuine thrill in collaboration. We all miss you dearly. Carry on.... whereever you are, carry on, my friend.

Guest House, carriage house and bunk house are just a few names for a similar type of structure. Lake homes tend to require storage for boats and jet skis, or perhaps a vintage sports car, or even simply overflow guest parking. Maybe all of the above. Combine this with the living space above, and this accessory structure becomes a unique space by any name.
This barn-style space has five bays for cars and equipment, a workshop, and a full bathroom, all on the first floor, plus room for storage, tools, and easy access to clean up after chores. The second floor has two bedrooms, two baths, and ample living space. The kitchen, living, dining, and bar area are open to one another and showcased by the timber-framed cathedral ceiling—a covered deck with views to the river. Guests, family, and friends can relax comfortably above the functional storage and workspaces below. www.boninarchitects.com

Even when a room's main use is for TV viewing, I always recommend a chair in the opposite corner to balance the room and encourage conversation. In this case it is a family heirloom iconic Eames chair and ottoman that is used for reading and playing the guitar. The fireplace still has a presence without competing on the same wall as the TV.

This red with black glaze cabinetry in the back ground serves as a bar, which is easily accessible from the exterior covered patio and the great room. To add alittle whimsy an orginal Pelican Poster was added into the mix. These rattan chairs were selected for not only their size, but adds another texture into the great room. The cushions were custom done in a Schumacher stripe which adds alittle beachy feel to the space. Note the heath storage below for wood, custom iron tools and screen made by Gearhart Ironwerks.
