This home is composed of four bedrooms and 4500 square feet over two levels. The client wanted the guests entering these spaces to be inspired by the breathtaking views framed within large expanses of glass. The three main interior spaces; the Great Room, Dining Room, and Kitchen, are designed in an open concept plan, with a minimum of walls and obstructions.
Much of the exterior is clad in recycled barn wood and local stone. The stone wraps around the entire structure, and at certain areas it rises up like spires to create support-like features for the roof above. Window cladding is rust red to accent the recycled wood siding and to keep within a warm color spectrum.

Red Ridge Millwork
We were asked to create a wine cellar for clients who were getting started in wine collecting and had purchased a beautiful new home that they were making their own thru various renovations.
We wanted to make a special place that was interesting to look at through the glass door as it is in an area where there would be regular traffic.
We created the 1/4-sawn Fir arched entry as a focal point that compliments the 2 barrel ceilings at different heights. Custom Fir racking was built for this project. A local Granite boulder was cut in half and polished to create the mirrored tasting/decanting areas. The centerpiece wall is a cultured stone feature section to complete the aged/rustic feel of the room. The ceilings had existing mechanical obstructions so by creating 2 separate height and radius barrel ceilings we his this otherwise restrictive feature of the room. This design also allows for the evaporator coil and fan box (they use a split system cooling unit for this room) to be mostly hidden when looking into the room.
100 year old authentic timbers were used as dividers. The back wall opens to reveal a hidden room for the most prized vintages and keepsakes. LED lighting in the display bottle area and back wall finishes the look.

Blackdog Design Build Remodel
The reason for the project was purely due to the age of the existing space. There were different types of flooring (including carpet that was showing a lot of wear) throughout the first floor, the doors and windows were showing their age, and the kitchen was outdated, dark, and not functioning well for the family. The laundry room didn’t have any storage at all, and was open to the kitchen, which was unsightly to guests. Additionally, the heights of the family members range between 6’ and 6’5” so they were looking to customize the height of all of the cabinetry to make tasks easier and more comfortable. To remedy these challenges, the flooring and baseboards throughout the first floor of the home were updated with a high-quality, refinishable engineered walnut, providing the home with an instant update and creating a more cohesive flow. A wall was added with a sliding barn door between the kitchen and laundry/powder room area, giving that space some separation and privacy from the social space. Beautifulpainted tile was used in the laundry powder room and pantry, which added an artistic pop, and to highlight this we replaced the pantry door with a framed glass door.In the kitchen, an obstructive peninsula was removed, and the cabinetry was extended to make space for a large island that seats up to six people. The range was swapped for a cooktop and double oven, and an exterior-venting fan was added. The microwave was moved into the island, the window above the sink was replaced with a large, single-pane casement, and a gorgeous four-inch mitered edge marble countertop made the island a stunning focal point. A coffee bar and beverage station was added to free up working counter space, and added a functioning feature to an unused corner of the room.

Bianchi Design
These clients decided to make this home their Catalina Mountain homestead, after living abroad for many years. The prior yard enclosed only a small portion of their available property, and a wall obstructed their city lights view of northern Tucson. We expanded the yard outward to take advantage of the space and to also integrate the topography change into a 360 vanishing edge pool.
The home previously had log columns in keeping with a territorial motif. To bring it up to date, concrete cylindrical columns were put in their place, which allowed us to expand the shaded locations throughout the yard in an updated way, as seen by the new retractable canvas shade structures.
Constructed by Mike Rowland, you can see how well he pulled off the projects precise detailing of Bianchi's Design. Note the cantilevered concrete steps, the slot of fire in the midst of the spa, the stair treads that don't quite touch the adjacent walls, and the columns that float just above the pool water.

This gorgeous beach condo sits on the banks of the Pacific ocean in Solana Beach, CA. The previous design was dark, heavy and out of scale for the square footage of the space. We removed an outdated bulit in, a column that was not supporting and all the detailed trim work. We replaced it with white kitchen cabinets, continuous vinyl plank flooring and clean lines throughout. The entry was created by pulling the lower portion of the bookcases out past the wall to create a foyer. The shelves are open to both sides so the immediate view of the ocean is not obstructed. New patio sliders now open in the center to continue the view. The shiplap ceiling was updated with a fresh coat of paint and smaller LED can lights. The bookcases are the inspiration color for the entire design. Sea glass green, the color of the ocean, is sprinkled throughout the home. The fireplace is now a sleek contemporary feel with a tile surround. The mantel is made from old barn wood. A very special slab of quartzite was used for the bookcase counter, dining room serving ledge and a shelf in the laundry room. The kitchen is now white and bright with glass tile that reflects the colors of the water. The hood and floating shelves have a weathered finish to reflect drift wood. The laundry room received a face lift starting with new moldings on the door, fresh paint, a rustic cabinet and a stone shelf. The guest bathroom has new white tile with a beachy mosaic design and a fresh coat of paint on the vanity. New hardware, sinks, faucets, mirrors and lights finish off the design. The master bathroom used to be open to the bedroom. We added a wall with a barn door for privacy. The shower has been opened up with a beautiful pebble tile water fall. The pebbles are repeated on the vanity with a natural edge finish. The vanity received a fresh paint job, new hardware, faucets, sinks, mirrors and lights. The guest bedroom has a custom double bunk with reading lamps for the kiddos. This space now reflects the community it is in, and we have brought the beach inside.

Obstructive columns, out of scale cabinets and false ceiling were removed to open this area to full height. Arched valance and layered silk drapery panels accentuate window architecture. Faux metallic ceiling compliments draperies and wallcovering.
