My best guess from the configuration is about 14'-6" to 15' from the stove wall to the edge of the bar countertop and approximately 11' or so in width assuming about a 3' or so walkway to the left of the island.

Thanks for your interest! The wall opposite has a two drawer subzero refrigerator. I wish I had a photo of the microwave and pantry that is right around the corner, but I never took this shot!

Where can I buy the chairs? Do they have matching table chairs?

Check http://www.houzz.com/photos/products/bamboo-wood-dining-chairs for these types of chairs there are various colors and varieties available in this stuff.

We sell these barstools. There are matching chairs but we paired them with a custom Koa table to bring the kitchen wood into the dining room. Let me know if you want information on the cost, where you live, email contact, etc.

Would you recommend having white and warm illumination in the kitchen?

    • jessielucille
Speaking of warm & cool liting ~ are there xenon and LED lights that don't give off heat or is fluorescent the only way to go re: not working under hot lights?

LEDs will give off VERY minimal heat

what wood was used as the bar shelf and also what stain?

    • PRO
      Trans-Pacific Design
The wood is indigenous to Hawai'i and is Koa, this is in the mahogany family so you can get a similar look with African Mahogany or Sapele. This is not stained but has a clear oil fininsh on it. Hope this helps...Aloha, Sue Moss

What is the name of the counter here? Is it granite, and what is it called?

I've attached an image of a kitchen we recently completed with all black appliances. The Black appliances go very well in a black, white and red kitchen.

Unfortunately, this tile is no longer available. You could easily use a porcelain tile that looks like quartzite or travertine.
