What started out as a solution to a fairly common San Francisco project, i.e., trying to squeeze a garage under an existing three unit building, evolved quickly into the much more interesting project of completely redesigning the facade of the building. The existing building probably began life as a Victorian, but had sadly been covered in painted shingles, had its windows replaced with aluminum sliders, and had an exposed scissor truss added near the roof as an inappropriate decorative flourish. In addition to succeeding in adding the requested garage, we were able to create a new Victorian facade which fits in nicely with its Victorian neighbors. The owners have recently hired us to work on phase two - a redo of the rear of the building.
