Native to South Africa, Senecio rowleyanus grows long, trailing stems and features orb-like "leaves". The stems trail along the ground, rooting where they touch and forming dense mats. Though it looks delicate, this unusual houseplant is actually a very vigorous grower. It creeps quickly across the surface of a container, cascading down the sides. The forgettable flowers are followed by a seed that pops open like a dandelion. These can be cut off to avoid a weedy look. Consider String of Pearls for hanging baskets, miniature gardens, fairy gardens, and succulent arrangements. You can even use small pieces as "rows of onions" in fairy veggie gardens.
  • Plant Type: Perennial
  • Zone: 10 - 11
  • Light Requ's: bright, indirect light
  • Blooms: May - August
  • Growth Habit: Trailing
  • Foliage: green bead-like strings of growth
  • Dimensions: 24.00in high, 6.00in high on delivery, spreads 12.00in
  • Care: There is no need for trimming the strings of this plant, unless you want to propagate it by way of a cutting.
