We've worked with Joanne for 14 years, on a series of projects updating and renovating our 150+-year old home. She is a pleasure to work with and really understands old houses. Has great ideas, and listens well too. I highly recommend her.

Our 1906 Tudor had a small, narrow and dark kitchen. We hired Joanne Tall to renovate and expand the kitchen, and we now have a beautiful, large, sun-filled and inviting room which has become the focal point for all our gatherings. Joanne's design sense was perfect and her attention to detail impressive. The kitchen is new but fits perfectly with our 100 plus year old home. Joanne not only designed the kitchen but supervised the entire construction project, which was crucial with such an old home. She was timely, listened to all our requests, helped us with all orders, was in constant communication with our contractor, and turned our ideas into reality. She was, at all times, a true professional and a pleasure to work with.

We bought an old house; knew it needed work, but didn't have a concrete idea of what we wanted. Showed it to Joanne Tall, who quietly observed what we later learned was a hidden catastrophe. Spent some time in a coffee shop with Joanne showing her pictures of Japanese inns and temples (we lived in Japan for a long time). At the end she remarked, "I think I've got the picture." Three months later she delivered the plans for a total remake, which is what we ultimately did. Check out the "Japanese Farm House" on the website. We love every minute in the house and don't regret the effort and expense of renovation. Joanne was there throughout; held our hand (and still does when a question arises), and has become our friend. You can't go wrong!!

We have worked with Joanne Tall for a number of years on a series of both major and minor renovations to a very old house, and she was great to work with. I loved her zeal for how the house was put together, and her sensitivity and enthusiasm for adding to it or altering it in ways that were appropriate to its style and mood. She has a manner and style that are a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend her.

When we looked to add a screened porch to our elderly house, Joann Tall produced a stunningly beautiful design that was wonderfully compatible with our house and its surroundings. She was a joy to work with from beginning to end; she did yeoman service shepherding the project through the complex zoning and permitting process; and we would recommend her without hesitation!

Joanne Tall designed and renovated our sun porch, which included raising the roof to a half-Cathedral, adding new windows to match our existing casements elsewhere in the house (a Tudor Cottage dating to the 1920s), rebuilding the walls, picking lighting and paint colors and reviewing bids and overseeing the contractor. She added in details we would never have thought of (rafter details, etc.). We absolutely love it, friends always admire it and neighbors liked it so much they chose Joanne to renovate their entire house. She is so meticulous, pleasant and responsive that we got her back to oversee the reconstruction of a second-story terrace and help choose new paint colors for the kitchen. I would hire her again in a heartbeat; she delivers solid, creative work on deadline and is charming to boot!

Commented: How large are the casement windows?Hi Koah, These large casements are Marvin Ultimate Clad 3672 (36" w x 72" h). I recommend tempered glass in any large casement for safety reasons. These windows make this sunroom feel open...

Commented: Love the stone work, was it all original to the building?Yes, the stone foundation was a 'beautiful ruin' in the woods - Hansel & Gretel-like. We repaired the stonework and designed the wooden part of the building to give more height and natural light.
