Jay and his team were great to work with. They had excellent design ideas and their workmanship was top notch. Our backyard was transformed. We love our new two-tier deck, fencing, stone steps and retaining wall and would recommend their company without reservation. Full marks.

My cedar deck, which was 25 years old and approximately 375 sq feet, was in desperate need of replacing. I decided to go with Trex decking and spoke with several companies. I decided on Green Side Up. I was very impressed with the professionalism in obtaining a design and permit, choosing the colour, etc. Jay was also upfront with me about the estimated duration of the job and the start date. When the work began, the organization and smooth flow of everything was another indication to me that I had chosen the right company. On-site, Richard was the "main" man and his expertise, craftsmanship and attention to detail resulted in my absolutely stunning deck. He also took the time to answer all of my questions (and I had a lot) and had absolutely no hesitation in making any minor adjustments I wanted. All the guys were very respectful of my property and the cleanup was done thoroughly upon completion of the job. I am absolutely thrilled with my new deck and my dog is having a nice nap on it in the sunshine. His new favourite place.

We hired Green Side Up to do a fairly large project for us -- interlocked patio in our backyard, a walkway around our house, the driveway, replacing our porch steps and covering the porch with flagstone. Our experience from the moment we met their owner Jay in November to the completion of the project in May was superb and the execution was flawless. Jay and Rob listened to our ideas, provided very valuable recommendations and paid attention to every little detail. The project was done on time and on budget and all our questions and concerns (actually a very few concerns) were addressed within 1-2 days. They were very considerate to the fact that we were working from home during the project so they kept the level of noise to the minimum and even stopped cutting stones during our meetings. They only bring the materials and equipment that they need for each given day and clean the area before going home each day. But most importantly, not only are they true professionals in what they do but they are also very nice people to work with. So it feels like we made new friends together with getting beautiful landscaping around our house. Needless to say we highly recommend Green Side Up for any landscaping needs you may have!

Professionalism and friendliness from the first interaction until they closed the door. I cant say enough good stuff about Green Side Up Contracting. Starting from Jay giving us the quote, then Daniel and Cory building us a beautiful fence and finally Brandon, Greg and Rob making our dream backyard come true (stone work, flower beds and all our beautiful trees and plants). Few things I found amazing: - I didnt paid anything until Jay confirmed they were done and I was happy with the work. (Booked them a year ago and never worried about the money). - They stayed true to the quote and our budget. Never felt we were a bank machine to them. They tried to save us money where they could and if they couldnt they would inform us and asked us if we still want it. - We had them in our backyard for a month and they answered all my questions with a smile on their faces. Never made me feel insecure to ask anything. And believe I have lots of questions haha. - They were ahead of schedule (now we get to enjoy our backyard even longer). Jay and his team are true professionals and amazing at what they do. We hired the team to put up a fence and they did an amazing job and ahead of schedule. My neighbour was not happy I was putting up a fence and caused some trouble for the team but they handled it really well and I truly appreciate their patience. Hiring this team again for their services is a no brainer. I would recommend them to my family and friends any day.

Fantastic!! We had such a great experience with Jay at Green Side Up! He was so informative, helpful, and an all around awesome person! Communication was always clear and we were kept up to date on timing. Zach, our builder was incredible! He was very detailed and built our deck as if it was his own. I found Green Side Up on HomeStars last fall. After reading a number of good reviews, I decided to give it a try. Jay was very responsive and came to visit my property to make initial assessment. Because of the irregular shape of the garden, he recommended a professional designer whose work proved to be so excellent. Based on the design, Jay gave me a detailed quote listing each item. The projected started the end of April. Even with the restrictions of ongoing pandemic and shortage of staff and materials, Jay and his team managed to complete their part of the entire project on schedule. Throughout the whole time, they were efficient, professional and open to new ideas. I had such a good time working with Jay, Rob and their team members and other project teams Jay recommended including Rocco, Sam, Rob, Daniel and Israel etc. Thanks to their great work, I can fully enjoy my backyard oasis.

My fence was the only project that I didn't have a personal referral for so I was a little worried at first, but Green Side Up will now be a personal referral from me. Completely professional. They do it right and as a homeowner I didn't have any worries or stress at all. Completely customer focused. Had to troubleshoot some issues for me but were patient to answer my questions as well as came up with a solution that worked better than I thought. Completely transparent. We recently contracted Green Side Up to replace the fence surrounding our backyard. This required coordinating with several neighbors as we had shared fencing. Jay organized a walk through with all the neighbors, explaining the services they provide, materials and processes, as well as timelines. Shortly afterwards he followed up with individual quotes as well as a start date. Two weeks prior to start, a second walkthrough was performed with the project manager and locations for posts marked. The first day the crew showed up early to dismantle and remove the existing fence. On day two the Bobcat auger arrived. Despite the fact that the equipment was substantial, our soil conditions were terrible: heavy clay, filled with bricks, cement blocks, and boulders. After hours of attempting the dig at several different locations along the fence line, work was stopped. The crew had already contacted the office early in the dig to advise on the soil conditions and develop a backup plan. The team reached out to all the property owners to review the situation and advise that an excavator was scheduled for the next business day. The work was grueling and temperatures soared, but the crew dug-in (literally) working long hard days, and somehow managing to maintain pleasant dispositions. They provided regular updates as work progressed and took time at the end of each day to clean and organize the site. We are extremely pleased with the quality as well as the aesthetics of the fence. The crew were polite, and highly professional under a difficult situation. We’re very appreciative that the team could pivot so quickly and keep the build on schedule. We’re also delighted that despite the need for additional equipment and time, the budget was not impacted. We would highly recommend Green Side Up, we are delighted with the quality and workmanship of the final product.

Fantastic company- flexible, honest, on time and fast. We needed a backyard fence for a new pool installation but the dates for the pool install changed. Jay was able to work with us and our changing schedule and always exceeded expectations. His crew led by Dan, Cory and co. were professional and satisfied all of our requests. Had our two-tiered deck replaced with composite last year; so pleased, we had our side verandah done this year. Professional from start to finish. Jay is a pleasure to deal with, and Victor's carpentry skills are outstanding. Price was fair, the workmanship is superb and we couldn't be more pleased.

2 years ago, our neighbour behind replaced his fence, a portion of which was shared with us. At that time, we met the owner of Green Side Up, and had a sample of his work. Last year we needed to replace both side fences, and with our neighbours, arranged for him to come out and quote. He met with us, measured and reviewed the project, and returned a straightforward quote within 24 hours. After we approved, he scheduled our project. Prior to starting work, he brought the project lead out to review the job, and gave us a planned timeframe. Due to COVID-19, there were material shortages, and inclement weather added to the challenges. Though the project took longer because of the above, we were kept informed, and the work was completed in reasonable time. We’re happy with our new fence, and pleased with the quality of work. I recommend Green Side Up to anyone looking for fencing, either new or replacement.

This project has been in the making for years. It wasn't until we met with Jay that we started to see what the final product could actually be. In a year (2020) where lumber seemed difficult to obtain, we were very happy that Green Side Up Contracting could still deliver and install our fence this year! The invoice was very detailed (which I appreciate) and Jay answered any and all questions very quickly. After a two-year nightmare renovation, Jay, Rob and the whole Green Side Up crew renewed our faith in contractors. They were polite, professional and just all around good guys! Great Job !!! Green Side Up did our backyard landscaping which included, interlocking, cement pad for swim spa, new fence around the entire yard, a small two level deck, raised planters, and spot for our dog Ollie to do his business! Green Side up was our choice after reviewing three other contractors, they were very transparent and fair when it came to pricing and making changes. Jay would always come and see us to make sure we were getting what we wanted. Jay and Rob would always consult us if there were a few different options or changes that needed to be made. Rob and his crew did an amazing job with all the stone work. Jamie and his mate did an excellent job with the Deck, and Daniel and his team did a great job with the fence. We highly recommend Green Side Up to others and we will call them up for any other work in the future.

Jay and Rob did a great job with our backyard reno. They dug up the entire backyard, installed interlock, added a retaining wall for a garden area, and put down new sod. Now our backyard looks amazing. Jay and Rob are very professional and personable. They were great to work with and they were very responsive when we had questions or concerns. We found a few chipped stones after they had completed the job and they replaced them the next business day. I highly recommend their services.

Happy to say that we're completely satisfied with how our new fence and gates turned out with Green Side Up. Our experience with Jay started in February of 2023 by first using GSU's website and realizing that Jay puts his pricing front and center so everyone knows what to expect. And the added bonus of architectural designs and an immediate quote emailed to you left us impressed. I didn't come across any other company out there doing similar things as most will only give you rough numbers on a piece of paper in our experience. Jay and I spoke shortly afterwards and explained the work needing to be done on our large property. Removal of the old fence and installation of a brand new fence on each side of our property. He said no problem and was also one of the few that was willing to accommodate our backyard reno that would be going on around the same time that he was planning on starting ours (April). His sincerity, down to earth personality, long warranty, price, and the great number of positive reviews meant that myself and our neighbours agreed to sign up with him. Oh and another perk, no deposit or money until the work was completed. Nice. Jay sent Daniel and Cory to do the initial part of the job and they were professional and efficient with the work they did. Great couple of guys and had no problems answering any questions I had and making a few minor adjustments along the way. Once we were ready for them to come back to close off our fence and gates, they arrived when they said they would and the work was done just like before. The fence came out looking great and really helps accentuate the rest of the backyard reno. The work done was split between my two neighbours so the price shown is my portion and both have said that they were happy with how the work turned out as well. Jay and GreenSide came through once again (they did our fence and we brought them back for our deck). They partnered with a very professional permit application company who dealt with the local municipal guidelines/permitting from start-to-finish and got us all the necessary permits to proceed with building. Despite inclement weather, Jay and his partner Zach were able to keep our job moving forward and within the timeline committed to. The quality of work and materials used was high, and we would recommend them to any other family / are looking forward to using them them again for our next landscaping project.

The entire team did a great job. We had the existing structure demolished and a new stone patio, pergola and fence added. Some of the nicest stonework I have seen. Pictured below is the stone inlay. (Matt likes a challenge.) They were quick to address and correct any small issues. If you are going to do a big project, don't cheap out. A retaining wall or weeping tile can make a huge difference. If you have challenges in the future, chances are that's the price you pay when you don't pay full price. Having a team like Green Side Up that understands how the materials will behave, will certainly increase the longevity and beauty of your investment.

My back patio was just a rectangle with builder grade cement slabs that were uneven and cracked and weeds were growing in between. Jay and his team completed beautiful back patio make-over, consisting of Permacon pavers. His staff was professional, worked hard in 30+ degree temperatures and delivered an extremely pleasing new patio. Jay exceeded my expectations by installing a low retainer wall where my flower bed ended up being higher than the patio (due to the sloping backyard), which was not part of the original project plan. I would recommend Green Side Up Contracting to anyone who is planning a backyard make-over!

Green Side Up was a pleasure to work with. They provided us with a very well priced quote within 24 hours of contacting them. They were very flexible and adapted to any changes we made along the way. The crew was very kind, professional and respectful. They showed up on time every day and worked very hard every day to ensure the project was done within an appropriate time while still providing excellent quality. We highly recommend them and are already using them for another project at another property.

Green Side Up came as promised and fully replaced my fence just as quoted. There were no issues and they completed the job within 3 days, even with a bit of rain. Zach was the foreman and was very considerate with my lawn during the process and did everything without me asking.

We hired this contractor last year to build the driveway borders, interlock walkway, patio and install the armour stone culvert support, overall a fairly large project. In a couple of days watching how the work proceeds I’ve noticed that this team of students is rather negligent often cutting corners but being at work I wasn’t able to observe the whole process. The walkway base wasn’t properly done plus I had to fill out many unfilled gaps between pavers. In addition, certainly free of charge, this group has urinated around the house’s walls during the whole project processing the energy drink, which we have generously provided. This was probably some kind of autograph left by this company. The smell was repulsive. As anticipated, the first winter has brought unpleasant results. Because of the improperly built base water has lifted and displaced the half of the walkway pavers. The armour stone, which was installed to support the culvert, started moving aside affecting the newly paved asphalt and the whole structure looked rather ugly (although it wasn’t pretty in the first place). Maybe they are good at something else, more primitive? I had no clue. However one thing, which this contractor is doing effectively, is selling. One full star is given in this review, as the patio and borders still hold. To compare, four years ago, we completed the similar project at the previous house and the quality of work was exemplary while the price was lower.

Jay and his team provided excellent services to us in building a patio in the backyard. They provided a fair cost and time estimate, and completed the work within the budget and time frame promised. They avoided impacting our nice hedgerow along the side of our yard by using a smaller sized machine for the job to excavate the work area for the new patio. They were respectful, and great people to work with. Their attention to detail was incredible, making the patio well supported and making sure it was perfectly level. They also installed a french drain in our backyard to help with drainage. Their work exceeded our expectations and we will be asking for them again when we need to do more work.

We had needed to replace an existing deck and fence for a long time. The initial meeting with Jay was informative and not at all rushed. He took the time to explain structure and other elements that are below the surface yet so important.
