“I first met Emily Gartner in the fall of 2012, when I noticed her custom designer fabric inspired by the Reitz Home Victorian Museum's stained glass windows. As an art historian whose research focuses on 19th-century textiles, I was immediately drawn to her high quality work. The way that she combines historically accurate imagery (the fabric) with more modern features, such as what is seen in her Mid Century Chair Modern Danish 60s, is phenomenal. In addition to being a gifted artist, Emily is also a talented entrepreneur who is an integral part of the local arts community. I had the opportunity to see these skills first hand, when she coordinated the Alhambra Arts Explosion in September 2012--Emily organized local artists, art historians, musicians, and poets for a weekend long fundraiser to support the renovation of this 100 year old example of Moorish architecture.
