“After several cold winters, my husband and I became interested in purchasing a wood stove to heat the basement of our home. Unfortunately, neither of us had every owned or operated a wood stove. “After looking around online for a new wood burning stove we went to the Black Swan store/showroom in New Milford, CT. Best decision we could have made. Their selection is huge, the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful (and not pushy at all). I was most worried about the installation since our old stove was really old, but they came and inspected the flue beforehand to check we'd ordered the right one for our home. Because of the set up in our house the cost was several hundred dollars cheaper than they had originally quoted, so add honesty to the reasons why I give them 5 stars. The installation was quick (about an hour) and their guys were completely professional. They cleaned up after themselves and took extra time to explain how to break in the stove (very important) and how to use it efficiently. We had the stove inspected by the town (an absolute must-do for home insurance purposes) and it passed without a problem. Our wood burning stove not only looks great, but it easily heats the house and we've noticed a big difference in the amount of oil we are using. “I had the pleasure of working with Ernie to resolve a problem caused by an fireplace chimney cleaning contractor telling me that there was a problem with the chimney flue of my Isokern fireplace. I fell for his pitch which resulted in the installation of a 8" in diameter flexible metal hose in my chimney. This caused multiple problems as the smoke from the fire did not vent correctly. Ernie offered multiple solutions to the problem and after choosing one he and his assistant were able to remove the flexible hose and restore the original venting. He was professional and pleasure to do business with. Price was very reasonable and the repairs were done as promised and on time.
