Terry completed a Shou Sugi Bahn dining bench and wood paneling for our powder room. First of all, Terry is an incredible artist! We are so pleased with his beautiful workmanship. He is clearly invested in his projects and was committed to designing just what we were looking for. We had several phone conversations about the work and he kept us updated along the way including sending videos of when he was charring the wood. I spent months looking for the best options for the paneling we wanted. I was grateful when I connected with Terry as it was clear he had an understanding of the technique and how to creat a quality product. We would like to give him 10 stars and encourage anyone who is interested in Shou Sugi Bahn furniture to consider Terry.

Comment from Terry Bostwick Studio Furniture:
Thank you for the wonderful review! It is always a pleasure working with clients who appreciate work that is out of the ordinary and understand that there is more to it than just doing something different, that there is also a need for care and knowledge of the medium, and a sensitivity to each individual project and client. Working with folks like you and Darren makes it all worth it in the end. Thank you for giving me the trust and the patience, and from such a distance, needed to make it right.

After viewing a beautifully designed dining room table in the Oregonian in 2008, I promised myself to look up Terry when I was ready to have him work his magic in my high-rise condo. Now, in 2014, the asymmetrical table, chairs and reversible game table are the artistic centerpiece of my home. Terry used rare Oregon black walnut and fiddleback maple to integrate the river theme of my decor with a gorgeous functional yet whimsical result. The three leafs continue the meandering river perfectly matching each other at the edges making them interchangeable. If you look closely at his photos, you will notice each detail is tweaked just a little to keep the asymmetry consistent and fascinating. The silken finish is durable and draws one to caress the surfaces. Terry Bostwick is a rare talent. It was a pleasure to do business with him!

Terry is a very talented designer and furniture craftsman. We needed a design update for our living room and Terry really came through for us with a beautiful chair and ottoman. What we particularly like about Terry is the thought and perfection tha shows in his designs and work. He's very easy to work with and is a real pro.

I am the owner of the loft in Atlanta, and commissioned Terry to design and build both the Art Deco Bar and the Game Table. Both projects were completed with the utmost professionalism and care. I couldn't be more pleased with the level of creativity and craftsmanship that is easily apparent in the beauty and uniqueness of the pieces that now occupy a prominent place in my home. It was fascinating working with Terry on the initial design of the work. From rough initial ideas that I had, Terry was able to develop masterful solutions; and the time he took to explain the conceptual ideas that formed the artistic direction of the work was an added bonus, and helped to illuminate the artistic process that he goes through on each project. I would definitely highly recommend Terry to those discerning enough to appreciate one of a kind, unique design and the highest quality materials and build.

If you ever wondered about where the true artists of the world have gone. . . . the ones that are experienced, and talented, and honest, and able to communicate intelligently and caringly--if you ever wondered about where those people are that value you and value themselves in regards to your needs and their work and are so very meticulous in every way--well you have found one. Terry is a one of a kind artist. His understanding of wood, ergonomics, space, style, color, design, the way things work together, of people's personalities and visions--all of this and more is what you get with Mr. Bostwick. I can't quite express completely the joy and satisfaction of my entire experience. Terry's furniture creations are alive with their own story. Who can ever tell the story about where the wood came from for their chair, or table? Who knows the process from beginning to end? Who can say, "The person who built this dining room set came from . . .and . . .this veneer was taken from an extremely rare type of tree. . .as Terry was building our furniture our first grand child was born. . ." Our homes are filled with the stories of our lives. Having furniture that is alive with these stories helps mark the times, the transitions, the celebrations, the losses, the tapestry of what has happened over time. I so value having furniture that has been given life during my life. Something that I helped create. Something that has a spiritual essence and never spent time in a chain store. Thanks, Terry.

My husband and I hired Terry to build a custom bed with matching nightstands, fireplace mantel, and retrofit cabinet doors for our master bedroom. This was the fifth project he designed and built for us. It was challenging because the room has unusual angles. Terry used burled walnut veneer in combination with black stained wood. The result is stunning.
I first met him in 2004 after seeing a segment about him on Oregon Art Beat. At that time, he designed an entry cabinet for my new house. I was so pleased with the result that I immediately asked him to create an etagiere for my great room.
I had collaborated with other artists in the past and really enjoyed the process, but it was different with Terry. We clicked personally and found that we shared similar ideas about art. He was very collaborative and listened to my needs and wants. Then he created beautiful functional art that I use and admire daily.
Terry is an expert craftman. He can design and build anything in wood (with combinations of metal, glass, and other materials) in any style. His background in art elevates his designs from merely furniture to art that functions as furniture.
I would work with him again and hope to in the future. I highly recommend him.

As a Professor of Art and a purchaser of Mr. Bostwick's furniture and kitchen design , I find his work to be a beautiful melding of art and function. His strong visual sensibilities and superb craftsmanship are evident in all of his work.
His knowledge of fine art history and industrial design history serve him well in creating interesting and varied pieces. His furniture pieces are truly sculptural, as well as imminently functional.
His fabrication work in my lovely kitchen is an echo of his sculptural eye and fine craftsmanship. I am proud to show his fine products to any and all.
His work is beautiful and well worth the cost. Moreover, he is fun and has a great working attitude.
