Ross Painting Contracting

I hired Fina to assist me with some design work during an installation of a project in Austin. I really liked that she was quick to reply via text and proactively checked in with me before the project started. She was super duper prepared and even gave me little things I needed like a spare battery or toilet paper roll for the site bathroom. Best of all I had four empty frames I didn’t have artwork for, and she said she could paint anything and very quickly- and she wasn’t exaggerating! I gave her an inspiration image to base them on and she had four small painting done for me in a couple of hours exactly like I had shown her. She’s not afraid to share her designer’s opinion or suggest things she thinks will work. She was very helpful throughout.

My problems with Fina generally boil down to a few things; her subcontractor management was very poor. Her attention to detail and quality assurance was very poor. She promised 4-6 weeks buildout, it took TEN (10) MONTHS! Most of which she was not assisting in any way towards the end. She has $1,424.25 of our dollars which we will seek to reclaim in small claims court. There were so many things that went haywire about this project, that it would take too long to discuss them all individually but I'll hit a few of the major ones. I'm sure she will have 1,000 excuses (she is fond of the sob stories) in the response to this review, but just be aware that she will say anything to get out of doing the right thing. One of the subs she brought didn't meet a deadline because he was in jail. That's the level of insanity I'm talking about here. When I brought up the fact that she owed us money, she said she could not pay because she retired. This was prior to the May 2019 review by another person! She is clearly still working. There were/are substantial drywall problems (sagging in the kitchen which led to large gaps I had to fix around the cabinetry). We had to compromise down in quality from budgeted price in a big way on multiple design items but the prices for those were never revised down! Her subs didn't properly seal the house during demolition and there was drywall dust over everything, which my wife and I had to clean up. Her subs damaged our washing machine after her contractor stood on it (she just shrugged and said "i can't fix it"!). A sink was installed out of level. I had to rip out a large piece of framing around a windowed wall and have had another contractor repair the poor work done TWICE. Fina took excess funds from a reduction in scope (not installing granite counters) and used them to pay outstanding debts to subcontractors on the project. She then claimed she thought we knew that the project was more expensive than budgeted and that she assumed that we were removing counters to pay for HER budget increase. This simply never happened. She refused to pay me back. Even if it costs me money and she has no ability to pay me back like she claims, I will be going to court because what she did was not right. Needless to say, I would not recommend Fina for any remodeling jobs.

We did my cabinets, stained the front door and finished painting the brick outside. Everything looks great! Will hire again when I redo my addition in the back

Fina did a four wall mural in my TV room. I'm a race fan so it was done as an evolution of formula 1 race cars. The detail she put into the cars was terrific. The down side was it did take a long time, over 4 weeks.

Fina Ross guided us through a major remodel of our master bath, giving us the unique, old world style retreat that we always wanted. We love it every day. We have even had visitors who come back to our house with friends just to show them our bathroom. Other contractors lacked the vision, creativity, artistry and know-how help us, and Fina Ross stood out right away as a contractor willing to go the extra mile and bring ingenuity, craftsmanship, and cost-consciousness to a big project. She spent hours walking us through choices and drawing sketches until we had exactly the look we wanted. She wraps design skills into every step of her projects at no extra charge, and that alone puts her head and shoulders above the rest. With her artistic background, she brought her hands and mind to the project, adding fine-art touches to the project organically as our bathroom took shape just because she knew it Could be done, and could not help herself from doing anything less than her best, even on top of her contractual obligations. Additionally, she is relentlessly committed to customer satisfaction. She took every one of our phone calls, responded to all emails, made herself available for meetings at any time that was convenient for us, AND applied the same level of service to the few cosmetic issues we had after the job was finished and after she and been fully paid.
