“We hired Schmidke C.C. thru a designer we were working with to update two bathrooms in our home. She knew of this company, but had only worked with Schmidke C.C. briefly before as her preferred contractor was not available. That unavailability turned out to be a lucky stroke for us. Schmidke C.C., headed by their CEO, Joshua Schmidke, came in to view the project and sat down with us to discuss the details, costs, etc. He made suggestions that were helpful and went to work. Since we used our home during the demolition, reconstruction, and final review and finishing touches of the reconstruction, it was important to us to be able to access one or the other of the bathrooms during the project. Schmidke C.C. was careful to clean up after each week's work [this is a weekend home], and provide us with access to these necessary rooms in our home during the project. Joshua Schmidke is knowledgeable, etremely easy to work with, employs only top-notch subs, easy to contact by phone and email, and friendly/approachable. The costs were greater than I would have wished, but that is always the case when major reconstruction is being done. This is not a function of Schmidke C.C.'s pricing of thier time, materials, and engineering; costs are always greater when you upgrade, add touches, etc.. We revised what we wanted done as the project progressed, based on helpful input from Joshua, and these added to costs and time frame. It also took longer than I had anticipated for completion of the project due to weather and other factors beyond anyone's control. But the finished project was well worth the wait, and we were able to live in our house while the recontruction was on-going. We were so pleased with the outcome of this project and the relationship developed with this Contractor that we hired him to re-do our entire roof, including the underlying structure that had deteriorated over time, and all of the gutters, including running heat tape to prevent ice build-up on the the eaves. This project is underway as we write this review. I/we would unreservedly recommend Joshua and Schmidke C.C. to any and all who might wish to hire a Contractor. He and his company are the best.”

“Two years ago we bought a nice house with great bones but not much personality. Since then, with the help of Diephuis Builders, we have been adding architectural interest a little at a time. In the living room we added a coffered ceiling, new fireplace surround and mantle, an arched casing between the living room and kitchen and new railings on the stairway. Outside they installed operable cedar shutters, iron window baskets, gable brackets and a cupola. In the basement family room they installed beadboard and box beams on the ceiling and new casings around the wide opening between the TV area and play area. They even hung a unique antique sliding door I found using rustic barn door hardware. I have very specific ideas of how I want things to look and Dan and Betty and their crew are creative, meticulous and easy to work with. Diephuis Builders helped us turn a "plain Jane" into our dream home.”
