She asked a lot of questions about usage, and what I wanted to be able to do with the space. I thought I knew what I wanted it to look like; however, Denise proposed some changes in floor plan and traffic pattern that I hadn't considered. I'm so glad I went with her ideas and am thrilled with the result. In addition, she was mindful of my tastes and budget. Many designers know what looks good, but don't take into account the clients needs and taste. Denise designed the kitchen, and did most of the shopping for accessories, granite, etc; however, it is my kitchen, and perfect for me.”

We recently started phase two of this project including seeking her guidance on furniture selections and placement and recommendations on things like carpets and window treatments. Now that we are able to work with Mary Jo at a more relaxed pace, we are really benefitting from her deep knowledge and expert input. Her “rules of thumb” are helping to determine the optimal furniture placement. When it comes to picking out rugs, window treatments and things like that, since she already learned our personal style, she is able to make targeted recommendations that really make the selection process easy for us. Instead of sifting through hundreds of possibilities, she is able to narrow it down to just a few solid choices for us. We are very grateful to have found Mary Jo. “We have used Karen many times over the years. Recently we remodeled our master bedroom and bath. What I especially like is that Karen really listens, so that you end up with a room that feels like you and reflects your taste, rather than just a pretty room with no soul. She has very good color sense. She will do as much or as little as you wish. You can meet, make a plan and then shop yourself or she will shop for you or she will go shopping with you. Whether you are furnishing with high end designer furniture or Ikea, Karen will help you. In this case, she helped me pick out wall colors, tile, fabric and linens. Her upholsterer did an excellent job recovering some chairs and her seamstress made the drapes. She worked well with my contractor. She even found our chandelier in a resale shop!”
