I contracted Amenities Home Design to oversee the planning & design of the gut/remodel of my kitchen & master bath. Cindy was very energetic, organized and positive in her approach. Her best skills for me were her keen eye for spatial planning & her great sense of color. It was truly a collaborative effort. When we hit a snag, she was in hot pursuit of a solution. She understood the sense of urgency to get the job done & was there through the completion. I have & continue to recommend her to my clients & friends.

We have hired Cindy on several separate occasions in order to help with some design work in our home and have been immensely pleased with the outcome. Cindy was our first foray into the world of working with a professional interior designer, and overall, it was a really positive experience. We are the type of people who have a strong sense of our likes/dislikes and really appreciated Cindy’s ability to understand our design aesthetic, and help refine and shape our initial ideas into beautiful home design. Her work has helped us to keep the charm/details of an older home (1913 American Foursquare), while giving it some modern/contemporary twists that reflect our personal sensibilities. We will certainly recommend brining in Cindy for projects large or small . A few thoughts about the work Cindy has done for us: 1. Initially we worked with Cindy to help us identify paint colors for our new home (painting every wall of a 2500 sq foot home). After meeting us for the first time in our empty new-to-us house and looking at some of the paint options we were considering she helped us to establish the right color pallet across the house, identify how we could use paint to highlight some of the features (accent walls, sloped ceilings etc), and to find the right shades of each color for each room (all while having no idea what our furniture/artwork looked like). I cannot imagine the paint colors turning out any more perfectly. 2. After such a positive experience with Cindy we contacted her again for some help with blinds/shades. Samples in tow, she patiently walked us through our options, and helped us to identify the right look for each window. Cindy did all the measuring/ordering (saving us from that headache) and her installation team did an excellent job. 3. Our biggest home project to date was the remodeling of a sunroom (replacing all the windows/adding a fireplace & new furniture) and creating an office (ordering furniture & making the space optimal). We brought Cindy into the sunroom project a bit later (after our contractor had already ordered the fireplace/windows based on our initial design specs – a rookie mistake.) After reviewing the plans for the sunroom, Cindy offered her thoughts on how we might improve the overall design (of the small room with some weird angles) if we were willing to make some changes (different sized windows and a smaller fireplace box). Once we agreed to the changes, she worked with our contractor to ensure that they were implemented as we designed. The changes resulted in some delays and additional material costs, but overall the outcome is amazing. It looks like it could be original to the home and looks dimensionally perfect. Cindy also helped us to pick out a couch and furniture for the office – she identified some designs that she thought would work, as well as brought over fabric samples – in less than an hour we had the furniture for 2 rooms all picked out (the time& headache savings for this step alone were of huge value to us). Our biggest frustration with the project was that our delivery window notice from the furniture company wasn’t very good, and consequently UPS ended up leaving 8 huge boxes on the sidewalk in Chicago and we had to haul them upstairs and do the set-up ourselves. But those minor hickups during the process aside, the end result in both rooms was really pretty spectacular.

I engaged Amenities to decorate and furnish a condo I had just purchased. Scope of what was involved included paint, carpet, and furnishings for almost the entire unit. I am delighted with the end result and have also received many compliments from visitors. I would especially call out Cindy's skills in paint color selection and space planning. My unit is spacious and very comfortable but I was unsure of how to put the space to best use. Cindy was able to visualize and implement a striking and eminently livable design that I appreciate every minute I am at home. She has a very collaborative approach and is extremely open, accessible, and eager to learn about her client, his/her tastes, and the type of design solution that would best suit his/her situation. I give Cindy my highest recommendation.
