“I selected ALB Designs for a major remodel on a 1930's San Francisco home. The remodel included (ultimately) the kitchen and bathroom upstairs, a new connecting stairway downstairs, and new finished space downstairs (hall, laundry, utility room) to connect to a downstairs suite. ALB Designs provided architectural services, design services, and to some extent, project management services. Anne Laird-Blanton (architect) gave me multiple options based on our conversations. After much time (it took me 2 years to decide!) I finally landed on one option and the work could begin. Anne listened to me and the ultimate design reflected my desire with the added benefit of her creative and practical solutions. It can be overwhelming to pick out all the fixtures, fittings, colors, etc. and ALB Designs helped me by making suggestions or narrowing down my choices to 2 or 3. The result is a remodel that reflects my style, but is more polished and cohesive than I could have managed on my own. ALB Designs also helped me select - and manage - the contractor. It speaks volumes that we're all still speaking at the end! I hear horror stories from other people about their contractor, so I feel very lucky that she guided me to a very reliable professional who's work ethic matches hers. With projects of this size there are always surprises. When the kitchen was gutted, the contractor realized that it was a few inches larger than expected. Without even asking, Anne modified the plans to give me the pantry that I wanted, but hadn't been able to fit in before. This is just one example of her responsiveness, and the importance of having an architect who collaborates well with the contractor and client.”

“Working with Emma is incredible! She helped us to organize several spaces in our home, taking them from a cluttered mess to organized perfection. These included our bathroom, guest rooms, and - most daunting of all - the basement. Beyond organizing our spaces and eliminating clutter and overflow, Emma helped us accomplish two key things that we could not have done alone: 1. Teaching us how to determine what we didn't need, and how to effectively recycle it; and 2. Sharing techniques with us to KEEP things organized after she left. By leaving us with these lessons learned Emma not only organized our home, but she set us up for keeping it organized in the future.
