I am SO pleased with my top-down bottom-up cellular shades. I thought I was just putting something up that I would never think about but I love the way the light comes through the texture of my "Riviera" cellulars. I've never had top-down shades before but having them in a room that faces a street with a lot of car and foot traffic suddenly seems essential now that I have had them for a few months. These give privacy and hide all of my music gear from passers-by but I can still see the flowers outside when the cherry blossom tree blooms. Tasha, the store associate I worked with was so patient and knowledgeable and helped me determine that I needed outside mount because my window depth was shallow. She also warned me that these were a little transparent and helped me put a bunch of different samples in the store window to compare the light they let though and the texture that shows. I rolled the dice with the transparency, since it is not a bedroom and the shades actually give a lot of privacy imo, people outside can see blurry silhouettes but only if someone is close to the blinds AND it is bright in the room AND dark outside. I kinda wanna put these top-down shades everywhere now but the rest of my house doesn't need privacy. I also really like the clean look of cordless. Really pleased with these, I can't say enough good things. I was a little apprehensive about hanging them myself cause the top window jam is high, but it was easy because you screw in the brackets and then click the blinds in. You don't have to balance the blinds while you screw the brackets in. I really thought that was a thing.

Miki is extremely knowledgeable, super nice, courteous, calm, personable, Customer focus and Customer oriented not to mention patient and understanding. I changed my mind several times before I came to a conclusion. She helped me tremendously. I asked her if she ever get angry, annoyed or upset. Her reply was no! She wants me to be happy. What a gesture, she was thinking of her Client needs and happiness instead of being selfish. Her goal is make her Customer/Client happy with their product. She is very encouraging. She is a role model for me when dealing with people. She has the patient of a saint. I highly recommend Miki. She is an exemplary employee and certainly an asset to your company not a liability.
I must add that all the employees that dealt with at the Somerville store are extremely courteous, helpful, patient and kind. This is just an added note.

I had a bad experience with Blinds To Go and would definitely not recommend them. I was purchasing blinds and shades for a new home. On Sunday, August 13, I placed an order in the Mt. Laurel, NJ store. On Monday, August 14, the person who does measuring and installation measured all of the windows for me (this is an independent contractor - so there was an additional charge for this, but well worth it). In the course of that process, we discussed a change to some of the windows in bedroom 2 and 3. Bedroom 2 has 2 single windows and 1 triple, while bedroom 3 has 2 single windows and 1 double. I had ordered cordless shades for the single windows in these bedrooms, but the fancy child-safe corded shades for the triple in bedroom 2 and the double in bedroom 3 due to their large size. As I discussed this further with the installer, I changed my mind and decided to replace the triple fancy corded with 3 single cordless and the double fancy corded with 2 single cordless. The installer made note of these changes.
On Tuesday, August 15, I received a call from the store saying that he had received the changes and asking me for my approval as well as telling me that my total would be increasing by about $180 as a result. I agreed and was told that my order would be ready in 6 -10 days, which is what I have in my paperwork also. So far, so good.
I heard nothing for a long time as 6 - 10 days came and passed. Nobody from the store contacted me as I saw later that they were supposed to do if the order were delayed according to their own paperwork. I tried calling the store multiple times, but couldn't get through because all of the sales personnel were busy with customers. Finally, after more than 2 weeks went by, I got through to the store and was told that they would have to call the factory. They called back to say that my order was delayed and would be in the store by Sunday, September 3. I still was not given any options, as described in their own paperwork if orders take more than 6 - 10 days.
On Friday, September 1, I received notification that my blinds and shades were in the store. It then took several calls before I was able to reach anyone to pay my balance. At this point it had been 17 days, well above the 6 - 10 promised. In the meantime, my guests were severely inconvenienced by the lack of shades in the bedrooms. I paid my balance in full and the installer picked up the blinds for me and installed them on September 5. However, there was one major mistake. Although the triple shade with child safe pull had correctly been replaced with 3 individual cordless shades, the double shade with child safe pull had been replaced with 2 single shades with pulls. As this room will be occupied by children, this is unacceptable. Also, this was never ordered. It was not the original order, nor was it the replacement order. I could understand if it were one or the other, but it was neither.
The store personnel were very unhelpful and failed to take any responsibility for the mistake nor for the long delay in receiving my order. They acted like I purposely ordered the single shades with pulls to avoid paying extra for the cordless. This is both insulting and ridiculous as all of the other shades were cordless.
Their solution was to inconvenience me even more and tell me to take down the shades myself and return them to the store and they would send them to the factory to have them redone to be cordless and then I would have to wait for that to be done and then pick them up at the store again and then have to reinstall them again. Or I could ask the installer to do this for me, but they would not be responsible for any of his costs. Their only concession was that they would not charge me the $80 - $100 to make the corded shades cordless. Are you kidding me? What about my time, what about the delay in receiving the shades, what about breaking your own policies, what about it was your mistake not mine?
This is far from a fair resolution and I think a lot of shade and blind buyers would be interested in both my experience and the total lack of a customer service focus by the store staff. Blinds To Go will never get my business again and I would encourage others to look elsewhere if they want a company which adheres to its own policies and has a customer service focus.

This is the second time in 8 years we have bought blinds from Blinds to Go and once again are very satisfied. The selection was great, the personnel helpful and cheery and the quality is fantastic. We ordered cellular shades and got exactly what we wanted. And we love the lifetime guarantee: one of the shades from another room (8 years old) ripped a bit in one spot. Unfortunately the exact fabric was discontinued and the rip could not be repaired, so we received a whole new shade. Didn't have to dig out a receipt or anything. In both cases (new and replacement) turnaround was 3 days. Will definitely use them if we need shades again!
