We completely replaced the dilapidated staircase in this circa 1870s Brooklyn brownstone. We created a landing where once there was none, and chose custom-made wrought iron railings and a white oak staircase to match the brand-new white oak herringbone floor. New wall trim, crown moldings, and baseboards give this entry hallway added character and the homeowner's collection of Contemporary artwork makes for an eclectic scene.

This sweet woodland nursery features custom crib bedding, a repurposed emerald green chalk-painted dresser that doubles as a changing station, and a vintage dark brown Jenny Lind crib. The space also features a graphic charcoal and white striped tent with custom pom-pom topper, wooden bead and paper bunting, and a faux deer head. Lighting is one key way that European flavor is maintained in each room. From crystal pendants over the kitchen islands, the dramatic fixtures compliment the natural light furthering an airy and open space. While the entire home maintains a Hollywood chicness through rich textures and fabrics.

A niche created by the need to maintain a small shear wall became a semi-private space off the Entry and Living Room for reading or conversation during an event at the residence. The Jaurez Michado mural, along with other art on the main floor tell a story of love won and love lost, asking the question "Is it better to have loved and lost, or not to have loved at all?" With this notion, the design team and client began referring to the niche as the "Love Shack". The custom pillows and seating was designed and built by West Highland Design. At the ceiling a carved pine floral grill disguises the main floor return air duct.
