Refinishing wood floors -keep carpet in the bedrooms?

Chris Byrne
We're helping our daughter buy her first home -a modest 800 sq ft condo in a 1960s building in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The floors are rather nice, short strips of oak, looks like 3/4" tongue and groove. Everything is still nice and tight even after all these years, no major repair required though the finish is a bit worn. She's quite into the idea of them, and says she will ruthlessly mandate bare feet in her new digs.
Question is, the the current owners put down new wall-to-wall in a neutral taupe in the two small bedrooms. We plan to get the floors redone before she moves in. (Screen or sand, as needed, and refinish.) Should we rip up the wall-to-wall and have the whole thing re-done? Or will she glad there is carpet in there in January, even if it isn't what she might have chosen for herself?
