I just fruited it one year so the results aren't completely reliable, but I thought the flavor very good.

I had a horrible time with fruit rotting at the time. It rained every day and nothing would slow the rot. Other cots that ripened at the same time didn't have the same problem. It was like Sugar Pearl had zero resistance to rot.

I also live in a wet summer climate (upstate NY), and I had similar problems with Sugar Pearl apricot rotting. I have some anecdotal experience that suggests a pathway to success. First, make sure that the soil is on the alkaline side. Second, check the potassium level in the green tissue. Sub optimum potassium levels are frequently associated with poorer disease resistance. I apply potassium to the soil, but also foliar feed with it in the fall. Incidentally, my winter flower bud survival rate increased by a factor of five after starting this step, even though last winter had some of the coldest nights in decades. Third, do dormant copper sprays to kill the spores left on the tree from the previous year. I do this a couple of times during the late fall after leaf fall, and again early spring before the buds begin to expand, then I do it again as the buds grow and then again around full bloom. After petal fall, I use Immunox once early on, then again a week or two before the fruit begin to ripen. Last summer, I had no brown rot in my Sugar Pearl apricot, even during rainy periods.

What form of potassium did you use?

I use potassium sulfate because of its low salt index and I had some on hand. I start with the granulated form, so I dissolved roughly a tablespoon of it in a small amount of boiling water, then mixed that solution with about 2 gallons of water and a sticker/spreader.
