Sugar snap peas in hanging baskets?

Hi all,

I am typically on California gardening forum but lately have been growing edibles a lot and so decided it's time to become a part of Veggie gardening forum as well!

I am planning to plant sugar snap peas in hanging baskets for the first time. Has anyone tried and had a success or is it better to grow the plain old way with supports and stuff?

I haven't ever tried that, but sweet peas are sometimes grown in hanging baskets and do well and look nice that way.

You might want to consider a shorter-vined type such as 'Cascadia', they might not get so out of control.

I'm not sure if they would cascade down, or just want to climb the hanger and supports.

But as long as the container is large enough, in proportion to the number of vines in the pot, and well cared for, they should work.

Never did them in hanging baskets BUT, if you give them enough UPWARD support and a big enough pot they SHOULD do fine I think. Try it!
