Hi, Jonas! My name is Linda and I've not posted in the forum yet. I have been lurking (and learning!) for quite a while now, and can't resist this chance to show off some of my plants. I work at a large nursery here in Austin (The Natural Gardener), so get first pick of what comes in and have amassed an interesting collection imho.

The monstera in there (at the left edge) is one of my favorites. I'd wanted one for years and when I helped a friend move her plants to her new house (took TWO TRIPS in a 24' livestock trailer!! The woman's nuts with plants! LOL!), she gave me a start.

I'm really proud of my Congo sanseveria, too. I'd never seen one of these before it came in by happenstance with a shipment of succulents at work. HAD to have one! It's put out two new "paddles" since I've had it.

I'm also pretty proud of my little staghorn fern that I just mounted not long ago. I think it looks MUCH better on the wood than it did in the pot it was in (and is probably liking this more, too).

Here are a few of my favorite plants!

This pothos was my very first plant. I've been growing it since elementary school! It was what got me into growing plants instead of admiring them. I almost lost it over thanksgiving break due to a frosts. I'm glad it is comming back!

I grew this snake plant from half a leaf (it is still connected to plant). It has grown so slow as I started this in 2006. It grew the smaller pup after it was placed outdoors for the summer and autumn.

Amccour- I think we have the same plant! I wondered what it was. My friend gave me pieces from her 18 year old plant. She said it grows nice flowers every year. She hasn't re-potted it for over 10 years so I think it likes being pot bound.

This is my Ming Aralia. I have had it for 4 years. It is very finicky in its watering requirements. I keep it very dry and it seems to like that.

aloe arborescens- I got this from a small pup from Florida. It has grown many more pups over the summer-autumn outdoors. I like how it is more upright then my aloe veras.

Mine's a Ledebouria socialis (despite what the nametag says) which I got because Mr. Subjunctive made them sound really cool on his blog. I think yours might one of the other Ledebouria species. A lot of them look really similar, but yours has a slightly different bulb shape and much greener leaves than mine, judging from the picture. Ledebouria pauciflora, maybe?

Really nice plants, in any case. They look like something that'd have really prohibitive cultural requirements, but they're actually really easy. I'm surprised I hardly ever see them for sale anywhere. I can't imagine they'd be hard to propagate given how aggressively they offset.

wow this has been a effort...could not get logged on to garden web even with a new membership...here now though! i even took my christmas camera early to be able to take pictures to post lol cause could not find my connector for the camera to the comp. on my old one...so this has been an endeavor :) just to show a few of my houseplants, if that dont scream gardening addict i dont know what does :)so let me try to post a few pics here and see if i can get this right.

My pride and joy is my Hoya carnosa. My high school home-ec teacher gave me a cutting off of her plant and I've also gotten cuttings (my first trades) of it and added to it. Here's a picture I just took of moving her (I named her Nikki after my friend who passed away in a car accident before our senior year). Here she is in the big kitchen window (faces east).

great looking plants you have there, i especially like the tradescantia's i gave one to my girlfriend but shes struggling with keeping it healthy, she refuses to move it closer to the window so its getting a bit elongated :/, appreciate the effort you went through to post them, that plant in picture 100_0015 what is that?

heres a picture of some of my houseplants, its a bit crammed during the winter, most of them go outside in the summer.

jonas i dont know what it is, it was my moms and she passed away earlier this year in april so i brought it to my house... i am thinking some kind of ivy which i usually am not good with but i had been taking care of hers for last three years as she had a stroke and could not. so it has been okay thus far with me taking care of it...ivy generally hates my guts :) so not sure that is what it is lol or else it would look terrible. maybe someone can id it for me...that would be great...just afraid if i know for sure it is ivy next week it will be dead grrr

This was started by my mother when she was pregnant with me. I'll be 32 next month ;)
The bloom is just starting...most of the buds are still about a quarter inch long.

Josh- I love your cc! Is it really 32 years old?!?!?

I have one as well from my Great Grandmother. It looks like a weeping tree (trunk is 1 1/2 feet tall). It is ashame my great grandmother has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember me let alone the age and history of her plants as they all must be very old. I took many cutting this summer. They have all grown fast. I'm planing on planting them in a hanging pot to let it weep over the edge.

It has several nice woody trunks inside the foliage mass.
I'm hoping this one will become an heirloom, too ;)

the christmas cactus is absolutely georgous and the sentimental value is priceless. very beautiful.

Maddox: sorry to hear about that, but the plant looks great so your obviously doing something right :), and i dont think its an ivy, maybe a passiflora of some kind?

it looked wonderful too, and those tree's on the right are chamaecyparis, calocedrus aren't very common here in dk, not sure if they are 100% hardy.
and the cc looks great, is there flowers on all the tips, or are they spread out?

We have Calocedrus growing at 5000 feet elevation, so I think they'd be hardy for you, too.

The CC has buds on almost all the tips, but most of the buds are still small.
I wish it would bloom all at once.

just looked it up in a book, your right it is hardy :), must have confused it with something else.
almost all my tc buds opened at once, but it might be because its a newer cultivar and your cc is an old cultivar, but look at the bright side, this way you get to enjoy them for a longer time :)

hows the weather over there? its crazy here, we're going through another blizzard today, and in some parts of our small country we had temperatures as low as -23c the other night:S, luckily we only got down to -11c where i live

Here, we've had a week of rainstorms, with only a little hail. No snow yet.
Our coldest temps this year have been -4c - but the Sun is shining this morning.

You're right about the CC buds...I'll be able to enjoy them all the way through Christmas.
I think the flowering would be more dense if I gave the plant a hard pruning, too.

mike, are those clivias? I've been trying to find some. It seems like a few years ago when I had no interest in them they were everywhere, and now that I DO want one everyone stopped selling them.

Is that Philodendron in your second picture cultivar "Autumn?" I just bought a Philo misID'd as Prince of Orange (they also had the real stuff which side-by-side was totally different) and I think I have Autumn.

Your Haworthia and your Aloe look good to me.
Winter is a difficult time for most succulents, but yours seem to be doing fine.

I wish I could give you one (or both) of my Spider Plants....
I have a cat that loves to chew the new plantlets that hang down.
Do you fertilize your plant? You might try a 1/4 strength dose during the Winter,
and then increase the dose during the main growing season. Fertilizer won't
solve all problems, but if you don't fertilize regularly it could be an easy fix.

i have fertilized a little bit but not much, i repottet the plant this summer so there should still be lots of nutriens left in the soil. i got the plant from some1 who was about to throw it out, and i can see that they have cut off all the flower stalks and only left this one :(

Jonas, are those plants on the bottom left E. Globosas? If so they look a lot nicer than the one I bought in october, which is badly etiolated. I think it had been growing in pretty much no light at all, because it was sort of shoved in the back of one of those plastic plant holder things, halfway under a wooden shelf. Which is exactly the same place I saw it at said greenhouse back in 09.

close, they are E. pseudoglobosa, and thank you :) theres 4 plants in the picture, and i have them growing in a south facing window, i recently repottet them into individual pots, they are cuttings from spring and in my experience they are quite easy to root :)

heres a picture of the mother plant from this spring, its about 20 years old, the picture was taken right after it got pruned and repottet before the pruning it had alot of long etoilated growth because it had been growing in a north facing window without much light, also it got its roots raised above the soil making it look like it has a little twisted stem.
it had been growing in the same soil for 20 years, this year was the first year that it has been repottet :)
