Name this.... Tree?

I brought this hosta home and noticed it has a little stow-away. It looks like a little tree sapling. I'll give it a home if it's anything but a Sweet Gum tree. We have several and I hate them because of the seed pods. It's leaves don't really look the same. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
