Perennial questions for bed garden bed...

I was wondering if you could take a look at these snapshots I took of my May Night Salvia, and my Dwarf Coreopsis and see if there is anything you can detect to why only one of my Salvias is blooming, while the other ones have just had bare stocks for a long time now, and the 2 out of the 3 Coreopsis has been getting blooms, but the 3rd has not done anything. I guess this is more of a question as too if I should be "deadheading" to maybe kick things into gear? I thought I did that with the Salvia, and new stocks seemed to have been growing, but now they just aren't doing anything.
