When I was digging up my beds....I only saw two big huge white grubs in my yard period.

I'm hoping that I have a light crop too!!! lol

I wish JBs loved slugs! lol

I'm probably hexing myself here, but so far I've seen but one jb (on a hanging plant) and it flew off too fast for me to squish it - darn! This is late - nearly mid June and no infestation??

On another thread I erronously stated that they only feasted on my hibiscus and knock-outs - my error, today I remembered they also loved my boston ferns and crepe myrtles.

Pause to ponder ...... last year my crepe myrtles were spared since they were 'late' - yet today they're in nearly full bloom and (shhhh, don't say it out loud - no beetles!). The hibiscus has some chewed leaves, but no beetles ... yet.

Now I'm getting really freaked out .... what am I going to find come morning's light?

I've found some big honkin' grasshoppers lately and they do more damage to a wider range of plantings than the JB's do.

Right now my only infestation is squash bugs.
They are out all over my pumpkins making whoopie everytime I go out there to check on my little pumpkin that could. lol

Yes, I still use them. I put one on each corner of my yard, but I have a big yard. Three years ago I caught 24 bags in 5 days! Two years ago I substituted milk jugs for the bags and only filled up three or four halfway in the whole season. Last year, there probably were not 100-200 beetles in my traps. I haven't seen any yet this year.

My theory is to catch them before they get in my yard and to draw the ones that are already there out of it. I use soapy water to get the ones that make it to my roses. I figure that I have prevented hundreds of thousands from being hatched - if not millions.

I've only seen a few jb's this season so far here, despite the enormous amounts of rain in the last few weeks. I have noticed the only thing they have nibbled on is a fresh outcrop of morning glory leaves.
