Could it be 'The President' or should I rule that one out.

Hi Annette,
not sure why you didnt get and answer, where did you get the clematis? The president looks like a good guess, but if it is darker, it could be Blue Bird(Edomurasaki) which I guess is related, but probably wouldnt be that easy to get. not an expert, just like a good mystery!

I probably shouldn't even make a guess, as it doesn't look like anything I grow, but according to Clematis on the Web, Lord Nevill is a dark violet blue (looking darker than their photos for The President).

It does look similar to Brushwood's photo of Edomurasaki, but not as much like Clematis on the Web's photo of Blue Bird (Edomurasaki).

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will give an opinion.

Thank you, roseberri and plantloverkat, I went out and looked at the tags of the other clemies I bought, they all came from Classic Climbers so I guess my NOID did too. Looking at their list of Clematis I didn't see a Blue Bird (Edomurasaki) but they did have 'The President' and 'Lord Neville'. I think mine is a pretty good match to their 'The President', as I said before the flower on mine is a shade or two darker than my picture shows, I'd say it's identical to their picture of 'The President', mystery solved.

These darn vines are addictive I must have about 30 by now :).

Whatever it is,it looks like a beauty! If that is the President, I am hoping mine will bloom this year! I know what you mean by a vine addiction! I only have it up to 15 but I have more places...
