Don't really know much about sans (I have only few), but I have one you mentioned & propped up with stones - didn't find it sensitive at all.

I don't have any sans (yet!), but I have propped a lot of plants with stones. My landscaping is full of smooth river rocks of various sizes, so I have plenty to use. The big ones work pretty well on my top heavy plants. I have also used a pile of top dressing stones for lighter plants.

This is the only picture I have of the stones in use - on a jade.

I put stakes around the perimeter of the pot and then tie string around it to form a cage.

I use lots of rocks...I think I went overboard with this one.

I'm currently trying my best to re-root 2 ungainly 2ft tall crowns from my treasured Strelitzia that have suffered from basal rot and become detached from the root ball. I have them in a very tall pot that's barely half filled with mix. They are placed only about a couple of inches in the mix and then the whole pot filled to the brim with 'polystyrene packing peanuts' as we call them here. They are very stable and the soft polystyrene doesn't harm the plants. Hope this may help some of you....whether my plants will actually root I can only hope, but they don't wobble!

Wow... those are some stunningly creative solutions.

For a Sansevieria 'Mooonshine" this time of year, how long would you guess it'll need support before the roots get established? It's such a pretty plant, but in my limited experience, Sans aren't fast growers. I hate to think my lovely is going to spend the next few months wrapped in sticks and string and rubber bands - sort of spoils the aesthetic.

I'm doing something similar to the above poster with my jade plant; however, perhaps some large rocks may work better in your case (they look much nicer too).

I know I might be derided as a heretic (and scourges are my thing), but a simple way out of this is to add organic matter (sifted potting soil is all right, and so is sifted top soil) to your gritty mix, making it both gritty and soily - Sans love it.
