Garden Web won't let me post pics from Flickr now - super lame

Come on, GW. Get it together. I checked and Photobucket still works but not Flickr. The thing is, I stopped using Photobucket because Flickr is better and I don't plan on going back. Last night I prepared a new thread to share some recent stuff - after spending about 20 minutes adding multiple photos and text to go with, I get an error message when I hit preview!

This new bogus development coupled with all the invasive pop-up ads whenever you click anything is, for me, taking all the attraction away from this site.

Now, I understand why you can't post links to D-a-v-e-s G-a-r-d-e-n, or even type the words, it's another garden forum they don't want to promote. However, Flickr is a massive photo sharing site that goes hand-in-hand with this site. Yes, Flickr has a community where you can make friends and comment on each other's photos, but cutting the site off is a small-thinking move. Come to think of it, there's a place I know of where people can share photos, comment and ask questions that will be answered by knowledgeable people. She's called Flickr and you've driven me into her arms!

Many of you already have accounts there. Join us in the Flickrsphere, friends! This is a full on revolt... unless the problem is fixed soon, in which case abort mission.

To be clear, yes I know about the "choose file" button. That's not good enough. Also, I know it's their site and they can do what they want with it.

Can someone else confirm this for me? I might just be wrong... it's happened before.

Have you reported this to GW? In case it's inadvertent & they don't realize it's happening?

I'd give 'em the benefit of the doubt on this one; I'm pretty sure they'd have no reason to exclude Flicker, just like they wouldn't have reason to exclude Photobucket (which I still use).

Can it be an unintended consequence of the system stuff they were working on during the last several days (I think it was Wed.)?

It acted up for me also. Seems several post were not posted. also why can't they fix their Image file to upload to more than one picture? That would leave photobucket and flicker out altogether.

testing...seems to work for me. Flickr just changed some embedding options like yesterday. google on "flickr" and some news will come up. I used the "grab the html/BBCode" option

    just the img tag portion

    with the href tag also

Ok, Mara has informed me that there's a problem at Flickr. My mistake blaming GW. I guess I was upset and let down about wasting my time last night. Yes, I have emotions.

    Tanks, guys.
    Revolution cancelled.

    Hi Hanzr,

I hope you saved your new thread as a Word doc, so it's not a total waste & you can call it up to post another time.

For those for whom this is a new idea, it's a great idea & most useful. Especially when one has written at length &/or spend considerable time writing the thread. I was a word processor for many yrs. & this is how I safeguard my stuff from vanishing into the ozone. Useful & a long-standing habit of mine, try it sometime.

Or even, just copy as if to paste a lengthy post. That way if it malfunctions, it's still in the memory of your copy/paste function as the last thing to paste. This habit has helped me too many times to count!

I just posted this by grabbing the html code on Flicker and copy and pasting it into the text. You get to it on flicker now by clicking on the finger pointing at the box. I had a lot of problems with flicker last week with their constant changing. They pushed me into the new (sucky) BETA EXPERIENCE. Pictures are bigger but the comment space and tittle space are much small and the way to get to the HTML /BBC code is much more convoluted and enigmatic. But I couldn't get to them at all because when I clicked on the cute finger pointing at he box thing, it brought up a box but it was hidden behind the photo. I could just see its edge. I did complain to flicker and they did fix it. It took a couple of days. Now I go to that box and it pulls up a window with some weird symbols that make no sense but through experimentation and deductive reasoning I realize that the symbols mean html and bbc. One is a tac and I can't remember the other already. They are not intuitive examples of graffics. Yesterday I woke up and I found myself back in the old Flicker. So they got that part of the complaint tooâ¦..Or maybe it was all a bad dream.

I went to frequently asked questions on their help line and described my problem in a email form that they had, and they did get to it. I can't remember how I found the help line. I get lost on sites and sometimes I get lost right but I would not know how to get back there.

All these changes to the worse is making me anxious and down right beeetchy. I was thinking of going to Flickriver. Apple is doing this dumbing down action too. They are screwing up all their software.
