You may have already addressed this, but have you considered soil moisture? I've kept a rosemary bush as a houseplant for the past three years (and it was just a standard Wal-Mart 4" pot when I bought it), and found that it really does best if I let the soil thoroughly dry out between waterings, and never overwater. It also gets partial shade during the summer and direct light during the winter -- it seems to be very particular about its light requirements.

I think you are right. I took a look at all the rosemary in its various locations and one is doing quite well--in a hanging basket, partially shadowed by petunias. Partial shade!! Thank you!

I'm just curious as to why you'd opt to start Rosemary from see when cloning is so much easier. I think the hybrid rosemaries may be hardier and you may have more success and less die off if you just root your cuttings. Just a thought...

But the long and short of it is I am very lucky (better than good, right?) seed-starter and always have been, but rooting cuttings always ends badly. I am trying to get better!

I will try both next year, because you have an excellent point. This year's have been salvaged by trimming the yellowed sections and moving all rosemary to dappled sunlight.
