It looks like some type of Crinum. Has it ever bloomed?

Does it have a "fuzzy hole" in the middle, like an Asplenium fern?

It almost looks like a Cochliostema but that would be the biggest one I've ever seen.

was sold to me as Cochliostema jacobiana but checking around i find that this iis a synonym with odoratissimum..
Only two species in the genus O and C. velutiim. the later being a MUCh smaller plant. So I'm going to assume that its the odoratissiimum.
Only persons responding to my ??'s was a lady in Hawaii
who grew it epiphyticly where it got over 10 feet tall lol
According to her the O is solid green but the jacobiana is mostly purple but from what I've read the purple is caused by being exposed to brighter light they are natural epiphytes in mid altitude central american rainforests but occasionally found on the ground .
Only common name I've found is "False bromeliad " have been looking for this for years but was surprised by the size lol Was going to try to grow it epi but way too big lol. decided on a pot with very loose media much like semi epi orchids or broms.?? The roots are much like those
Only one I've seen was a spectaularly flowering one in one of the admission gardens many years ago The aroma is what stuck in my mind lol Hopefully my dream won't turn into a nightmare ??lol Would appreciate any experiences with it?? Thanks gary

I've seen the larger one, although not that large and it was in bloom and very fragrant. I've had the smaller one which had no fragrance. :( I lost it to a cold spell. I believe it should be grown similar to Mednilla magnifica but I'm guessing. Beautiful plant you acquired. Enjoy it.

Now you're trying to scare me !! I've killed a few medinlla
in my time lol have heard of the cold sensitivity so will probably locate it in my experimetal orchid "beds " I laid the area out with frostcloth in mind along with UV lights lol.
. Was going to grow it in a crotch in a tree but way too big for that so potted it up using a semi terrestrial orchid mix .
it certainly shows the "birdsnest " effect already holds at least a gallon of water and debris in the center. Mosquito heaven lol Thanks for the info gary

Gary, put a few used coffee grinds in the center to ward off the mosquitoes.

don't think it's going to be the same problem as with Broms . While it holds water seems to drain out in 24 hours . Thanks for the suggestion!! gary
