I live on wooded acreage just west of Olympia, and this small shrubby tree is growing in several places at the edge of a marshy meadow. It looks like it will produce fruit or nuts of some kind; I'm curious to find out what it is. At first I thought it might be a cherry, but I think the leaves are wrong - not glossy or tooth-edged. The bark is a dark red.
