It appears to be a tomato fruitworm, AKA corn earworm. See attached link for more info.

Hand pick or seven but get him OUT.

Handpick or use thuricide-Bt (homedepot) or Caterpillar Killer (Bt) (Lowes). Also avail. at nurseries. I just would not use Sevin (broad-spectrum insecticide) on a caterpillar when their are so many other products that won't wipe out your beneficial insects.

I am sure handpicking would be all you would need anyway.

Well, it's a caterpillar. But I don't think it's the corn earworm -- too dark, overall.

Doesn't really matter what kindof caterpillar it is, though. Just remove it and drop into slightly soapy water or cut in half or squish it or feed it to the birds.

As for Bt or any other spray -- none will work because the caterpillar is more than half-grown.
