Miele Inspira v. Bosch Evolution 500 dishwashers...thoughts?

We had planned to go with the Miele Inspira 2141SC dishwasher, but for cost reasons, are re-assessing...if we go with an alternative like the Bosch Evolution 500, the dishwasher itself will be cheaper and it will be eligible for more rebates (for some reason, the Miele doesn't cut it for our local utilities' rebate programs).

So I'm wondering how these two models compare....I know the Inspira is the bottom of the Miele line, but it seems to have most of the features we need. The big feature the Bosch has that could be handy is the half-load cycle---if that actually works? We would get cutlery tray in either, and energy use is about the same. Water use is very different according to the feds---but our dealer says that's mainly a factor of how they measure, and less of a day-to-day issue if you run loads on normal most of the time. The Bosch has a slightly lower decibel rating, but not by much. We're looking at a $500-$600 cost difference between the two once rebates are factored in...is it really worth it for the Miele, or will the Bosch be comparable? (We are coming from not having a dishwasher at all, so have no real expectations one way or the other---just want a solidly performing model that will clean well and not break!)

Thanks!

Like for like Miele is a better quality machine and is still a family run affair not subject to as many market pressures as a publically traded multinational like Bosch.

We replaced a noisy, runny Whirlpool Gold (came with our house) with a Bosch Evolution 500 several months ago. We have had no issues with it at all. It's quiet and cleans very well even in half load mode, which blew my mind (I had never had anything before this except old, noisy dishwashers that required you to pre-rinse dishes). Good luck on your decision :)

I would think the Half Lode mode on the Bosch would be similar to the Express mode on the Miele (which takes about 15 minutes).
I believe all the Miele models are Energy Star rated, so not sure why they are excluding the G2141SC for any type of energy rebate. Maybe its an error on their part?

Thanks---I didn't realize the Express mode was similar, so I'll have to check that out! (Miele used to have a top rack only option, but from what I can tell they no longer offer that on any of their machines...)

The rebate is a state deal rather than an electric company deal, so I suspect it's the water use that knocked the Miele off the list---it doesn't meet our local water district's threshold for efficiency since it's listed as using 5+ gallons per load versus the Bosch's 2. (We used to get separate rebates from electric and water, but since the water company's rebate was only $30, it wasn't a dealbreaker...this one is $100, though, so it's making me think a little bit more.)

Miele dropped the top solo function with fixed parameters in favor of a sensor wash that monitors the dirt and adjusts accordingly. It sprays out of all arms instead of the top two and you can load anywhere (instead of the top) which could be good or bad depending on YOUR perspective.

    Just a soapbox rant-

I'm not convinced that the Boschs achieve the same performance on 60% less water. They may have a program that uses 2 gallons for rating purposes, but you'll prob. never use it because it won't clean well. They don't have new or superior spray arm technology or design that allows them to use less water. IF they did, everyone would hear about it and the other players would be trying to figure a way around the patents.
