Help ! I need a paint color

I have very old teal ( yeah ugh) carpeting in my bedroom. It is not soon to be replaced. My comforter is not soon to be replaced also.

My question is I need to go with new colors.

Something totally new. Maybe jewel tones. I am thinking of trying to blur out the carpeting. Maybe even get a nice big area rug to cover alot. haha

I would love to paint it a plum/cranberry color because I do PLAN on getting new carpeting after this summer. :)

What do you think?

If it were me, I'd just wait until I can make the changes all together so the room can look cohesive. Plum sounds like a beautiful color, but there's no context.
