I got both brands in my last house (simple knobs), and the Schlage oil-rubbed bronze wore very badly -- it rubbed off within two years revealing cheap-looking brass. The Emtek oil-rubbed had far less signs of use and retained its color much better. Based on that experience, I'll probably avoid Schlage in the future, myself. Others' experiences may differ.

Had Emtek sandcast bronze in one home for six years. I changed a few handles out of 55-60 once in a while to even wear. (I'm probably the only one who noticed such a detail.)

I have Schlage exterior handles in brushed nickel. After 4 years on one door that is exposed to the elements, the finish is turning gold. I emailed Schlage. They had me email them pictures of the tarnished handle. They sent me a new handle and deadbolt, keyed to match my existing one. Great customer service and lifetime warranty. I'm happy with the Schlage.
