Storm Door will not open fully to 90 degrees

A brand new Emco Andersen HD TruEase 3000 storm door was installed on 9/1/07 by a contractor. The installation is fine and everything works well (door closes nicely). The problem is that the storm door doesn't open fully, i.e 90 degrees. The door only opens about 60 degrees.

The main problem is that I move furniture in and out the front door and I need this storm door to open 90 degrees for this purpose. Emco is suggesting that there is a problem with the dual closers, one at the top and one at the bottom. I do not think so, because they are brand new closers.

Any suggestions?

We removed one of our closers and the door still closes properly but a lot easier.

Open the door partway, set the closer to hold the door open, pull the small pin on the jamb part and open door completely. Replace the pin immediately without the closer, otherwise it will be lost.

This is easy to check. Disconnect both the closers and open the door. If it opens all the way, it was a closer. Reconnect one of the closers and test the door again. If it operates all the way, disconnect that closer and reconnect the other closer. One of them is probably bad. Call the company and have them send you another closer.

Many closers restrict how far the door can open.
Just remove the pin(s).

If you install either end of the closer too close to the hinge side of the door or jam, it will limit how much the door can open.
