Beautiful tot-lot! I agree with your thought to remove all possible dangers, other than the play structures.

You can bring the water feature back to life when they have grown. You can fill the pool as a sand box, but I would take away the stone mountain and build a better waterfall in the future.

The best surface to fall upon is a playground surface that comes in large sections shaped like jigsaw pieces. If you can't find them, write to my email and I'll look in my playground file for you. Be sure all the equipment is within view from your kitchen or office, or where you spend your time while the little ones are getting themselves tired out, prior to nap time.

Don't be too worried about the perennials being damaged by the monsters. They will be back good as new each year, unless covered with pea gravel, of course. It is the woody plants that can be damaged. The hostas may be torn to shreds, but they will bounce back.

The two deciduous trees in the photo appear to be too small to climb, so you need to forbid it. They have Fisher-Price buildings to climb and slide from.

I don't see a swing, but you may feel the steel ones are another hazard to running games. Send me your address and I'll send you a design for one you can build with vertical wood posts, which are less of a hazard that the sloping angles of steel pipe.

I don't see a vegetable garden. It is important to get the infants involved with nature and some work they can perform for you - and eat the rewards! Do not raise kids with nature-deficit disorder.
