i would pull a little of the lighter color wood from the floor and table out, with a little iron work. here are two examples.

I have those pendants over my breakfast bar & the chandelier of 5 over my dining room table. If the Edison bulbs don't work, round Reveal bulbs look great in them. They disappear when turned on. Beautiful kitchen!!

I did the the crystorama Solaris with those pendants and I like them together. I used similar round clear bulbs in both.

I am loving the Kichler Evan lights, but they are pricier than I am wanting to spend. The Artcraft Castello seems like a budget-friendly alternative. I love the Crystorama Solaris as well! Thank you all so much for the great suggestions!!

You've gotten great lighting suggestions. now, may I suggest 1) a more up to date area rug for the table. Try westelm.com. And new fabric for the dining chairs.

maggys111 - Thank you! What color/pattern rug would you suggest? We have young kids eating over it so I am worried about anything too light. The table and chairs are a work in progress! They used to be oak; I painted the table and love how it turned out but haven't finished the chairs because I don't like how bulky they are and am considering getting new ones altogether. A farmhouse style bench and 2 fabric end chairs are what I have in mind. Would that be better?

Your kitchen and eating area is lovely. But I miss some color. Consider adding a splash of your favorite color. Blue? Purple? Go with a patterned rug which will help disguise any stains.

I was thinking $600 but can probably swing $800. I found the Evan 6-light on Ebay for $1000 that I have my eye on if my husband can be convinced! I agree, the wood touch is stunning.

here are some rug ideas. i think a simple jute rug could work, but blues, and oranges might be sharp too.

as for the rug I wouldn't do sisal or seagrass with young kids bc they stain easily. Really you could go in any direction as there is no real color other than neutrals in the rest of the room. I would look around and find something you love then based on that bring in other accessories -- fabric for chairs, drapes, art, centerpiece etc that coordinates.

bc of the kid factor go with something patterned or with variations in tone so stains don't show. I love the vintage style Turkish rugs, ombré styles or pretty much anything from west elm.

The Evan 5-light is same width as the current chandelier in my picture (20"). The 6-light is 28" width. I'm thinking the bigger would be better if we can swing it?
Length of table is 76". If the 5-light would be acceptable though my husband will probably be okay with that price =)
