Maybe a little smaller, as they will probably try to put out new leaves this year. It will take part of next year's energy. But they will survive and be fine.

"Celery" is what you used to get when you ordered hostas by mail in late Summer. Easier to ship. You haven't lost much by cutting off the tops this late in the year, as the big root growth takes place mid-summer. In September they are winding down to dormancy and in your neck of the woods, I imagine a first frost isn't far away. Relax.

Thanks Babka... I must be instinctively growing a greener thumb with every experience :)

Should be no problem with trimming off the foliage, I paid good money for these and had to have them trimmed so it did not cost a fortune for shipping. The stubs should still produce a little energy and they are heading for dormancy regardless.
