Isn't it funny how scent is so different for everyone? Julia smells heavenly to me like lemons. Not too strong (more's the pity) but Citrus. And here in full sun next to a white house she is 3 x 4' wide and shaped like a vase. And she's tough as old boots. Thanks for the pics. I LOVE that yellow. That looks perfect.

Terri: You have red clay with trace elements different from my alkaline-black-clay, so that would affect the scent. The myrrh & Licorice scent IS VERY STRONG in alkaline clay. I gave away Scepter'd Isle since its myrrh scent becomes "stinky socks" in my clay.

Roses Unlimited sells Honey Bouquet. I got mine from them, but as own-root Honey Bouquet needs heat & excellent drainage, and died after a few years in my cold & wet climate.

Amazing how that works. Own root roses do not work for me.

Own-root needs constant water plus fluffy soil for its 1st-year, but Dr.Huey-rootstock is more drought-tolerant & vigorous for clay & best for dry & hot climate.

Dr. Huey doesn't work in my clay due to poor drainage, and tons of rain !!

I don't remember where you live, but might suggest Molyneaux or Golden Buddha. I've read great things about both, especially Golden Buddha. Here are a couple of recent post dealing with your quest. KP looks and sounds beautiful.

I accidentally received a bright clear yellow that I gave away since it was supposed to be dark purple.

It did not fade and did I say VERY yellow, LOL! I guessed that it was Doris Day and now she's blooming in January inside an office building. I think her warm undertones would work great with orange. Assuming that she is actually Doris, she's related to Julia Child.

My favorite yellow for performance and scent has been Lemon Spice but she has cooler undertones so I don't think that she would be the right yellow for your scenario.

Terri S: May consider Friesia (Sunsprite). It wont fade and wonderful strong fragrance. The bush stays compact, like 3 ft max.

Terr S, have you considered tea roses, such as Lady Hillingdon, which love heat and don't require excessive amounts of water, unlike your Graham Thomas. Speaking of GT., a spectacular rose when happy, let me urge you to give him plenty of winter irrigation for good performance all summer.

If you are in FL, perhaps you could contact K & M Roses, which grafts onto fortuniata, and ask for recommendations.

i remember Val from Florida posting on Marco polo rose, almost thornless, a nice yellow, see below. It's a Meilland rose (from France) with strong scent.
