My blue sport from June which I refer to as my Halcyon - in sun

And another blue sport from Blue Cadet, years ago, which gets less sun; therefore, the leaves appear rounder (this plant is also mature now).

Ghost Spirit - looked great until season's end

    Arctic Blast

    Guardian Angel

Jo - I'm curious about your Blue Cadet sport... it kinda looks like Blue Cadet to me. How did you determine it was 'different'? And - being in more sun brings rounder leaves? I didn't know that (but then, there's a whole lot I don't know!). Or, is it just that more sun causes the plant to grow and mature more quickly, thereby growing into the plant's more mature appearance (those that are supposed to have round leaves just get there faster)?

Karin you really should put Indigo on your wish list. It is a great and apparently underused blue. I don't think I have ever seen another one on the Forum.

I had to look up Gretchen's Grace. I am a big fan of dark scapes. Nice one!

    Just gorgeous blues everyone!

Windy, I think it was Paul from Minnesota that mentioned it looked like Halcyon. I'll hunt up the photo to show you before I separated it. Actually, other way around...rounder/broader leaves in less sun...more elongated in more sun. Yes, you nailed the faster growth and more vigour in sun! That piece that is the bigger blue looks different because of the size of leaves to me. Way bigger than my first BCadet...which is also mature, whose leaves are much smaller.

I'll come back in a little bit.

Windymess, this from early July, 2013 - one plant

This is the left side of plant, separated from the clump.

I can see why Paul thought this looked like Halcyon. I didn't know what a "sport" was at the time...having only joined the forum a mere three weeks prior.

    Any further thoughts? Anyone?

Jo - thanks for the info and additional photos.... I had been looking at all these on my iPhone and, briefly, on my laptop. But when I bring it up on the desktop computer (and better, bigger monitor) at work, I can see more of a difference. In that original, whole plant picture, I can definitely see the color difference.

hosta_maker - So Little Bird, another one of yours? Very nice!

sunnywood - Love the corrugation on Pappa, I think it is fantastic. Can you tell us about it please, I cannot find any info.

mbug - How long have you had What's That and how late into the season does the color hold? I like it! Another great Halcyon sport with a difference.

Peren, it appears that Pappa is misnamed. Pappa according to the library is verigated. I got it from a local grower in NY. I will check with him when we get there in May. There is a hosta called Pappa Blue. However the picture is yellow?

Thank you sunnywood. I hope they can ID it for you (and us). Showing that much corrugation as an immature plant I can only imagine how great it will become. If they cannot ID it "A rose by any other name..."

peren.....first year for What's That....got it later in the season so I'm not sure how it will emerge and how long it will hold.
